I just bought an 89 GT with a 466 Crate motor and a C4 3 speed race trans. I was thinking about swaping the trans for a 5 or 6 speed. Anyone have any experience in doing this.

what is the 466. is that a bored out 460 BB. i did the t5 swap on my SB and it should be the same. just get a clutch pedal assembly off of ebay, since they are all over ebay. replace the auto pedal assembly with the new one and intall the clutch cable.
Sorry it's actually a c6 race prep three speed. I think I would like a 5 or 6 speed in the car. Besides the expense of the parts, what trans is recomended to bolt up to a 460ci putting out about 500 hp to thr wheels?

I dont know what you would need to put behind that motor. a special bell housing and stuff would be needed to do it I would think. Do some research and find out what the old trucks had for a manual tanny with that motor. that will give you an idea. I think with that power the race tranny is the better choice if your gonna race.
