I drive an automatic 91 lx 5.0 convertible, all stock cept dumped 2 chamber flows and a K&N air filter, I want to get some basic mods, like a shift kit and underdrive pullies, I was wondering if anyone knows how much a shiftkit helps you. I was lookin at the TransGo one and they run about 100 bucks and seem t obe good, like how much can it shave off a 1/4 mile? thanks for the help, in advance.

I would go with the kit first, only because it can lengthen the life of an AOD, assuming it's in good health now. It won't shave as much off the quarter as gears will, but with a burnt out tranny, how fast do you think you can push the Stang down the track? On the otherhand, if your aod is on its way out, you could consider a t5 conversion.

Ah, well, I did mine for 1000 out here in Hawaii where the junk yard charge an arm and a leg, which included new clutch/flywheel/ 5.0 shifter. There are stories around here where some guys do the whole thing for under 300...check out this site to see what is involved. It will definetely not cost you 1500 if you do it right, and do the labor yourself. westcoastford t5 conversion

when i did my shift kit i did some research and saw a couple articles where it shaved 2 10ths off the time.........and with how the stock one shifts i can see how it would, not alot but worth it.......if you go with gears though you may wanna go with 373's so that when you do swtich to a t-5 your not over geared.........
