have a 89 with a stock t5....well its leaking fluid between the tranny and the bellhousing, know i know i can take it off the bell and replace the gasket but is there a good aftermarket tranny that i can use the stock bell housing with(tko?3550?500?600?world class?) i would like to get one that can use the stock bell housing cause i have long tube headers and dont wanna go through the headache of taking them off and putting them on again

Hey,

If you want to stick with the stock bellhousing in your 1989 5.0 you have a few options...

1)Get a t-5 Tranny out of a 1990-1993 Mustang 5.0, these tranny's are rated at 300 ft/lbs of trq compared to your 265 ft/lb 1989. Have better 2nd and 3rd Alloy Gears.

2)Get a 1993-95 Cobra T-5 Transmission, can grab one from summit racing or d&d

3)Rebuild your stock 1989 Tranny with a new cobra kit or hanlon alloy kit, from either

(for the cobra)

or from

(for the hanlon one)

I believe off the top of my head the cobra and hanlon alloy gear kits are rated around 310-330 ft/lbs of trq.

You might be able to find a geforce t5 tranny or kit mabye on ebay or in the classifieds...do a search for more about the geforce t5. I dont think there being made anymore.

Also you can get a stock sized bellhousing that will allow you to put in a tremec 3550 or tko, dont have to go with a large sfi scattershield type. But if your making alot of power not a bad idea, plus need it when run 11s at the track.

There you go man hope that helps! :)
