Transmission lag

Just over 12,000 miles on my 2005 Mustang GT and encountered my first problem: A slight lag when shifting into Drive. I took it to the shop and they kept it for NINE DAYS before fixing it. I kept saying, just give me a new transmission, but they kept breaking it down and rebuilding it until it was fixed. Not sure what the problem was, because the dealer said something about servos and a clutch plate and I just got lost. I have LOVED the car and it has been trouble free thus far but wondered if anyone else had encountered a similar problem on the automatic transmission. Or is this just a fluke (I hope!)

I've had that also

Hey,

I was hoping that is was my imagination when it happened.... but, yes I've experienced that also. It's only done it twice and there's now 24k on my car. I'm not willing to bring the topic up with my dealer....... yet.

It has, on a rare ocassion done some other strange things. For example as I slow down to enter a 90 deg street corner I slap it down in 1st... then hammer down on it through the corner while slapping the shifter back up into "D". Once in a great while the tranny will NOT shift out of 1st! I have to back all the way off the throttle before it shifts. :(

Anyone else?

its all up to ford on whether or not the car gets a new unit on things like transmissions sometimes. sometimes ford wants the trans torn down if components can be fixed in the field rather then jus changing out the whole thing. the transmission is real complex and if they have to diag and find the problem yes, it could take a long time. whats important is they fixed what ur concern was correct?
