Aright heres the deal. . . Throwout bearing went bad in my 98 cobra and my clutch quadrant. . . so we did the quadrant and dropped the trans, we did a new clutch, throwout bearing, had the flywheel resurfaced, and a new adjustable clutch cable. . . Anyway, get the thing back together, it's running great! .. . . until. . . . this is where ur help is needed. . . . that night we got it together we took it for a ride, and the clutch pedal FEELS good but it doesnt engage until the pedal is almost let out. . . that didnt feel right and theres a slight knocking in the trans, it was quiet the day i noticed, but now its gradually getting louder, but it goes away when u push teh clutch in, AND now another problem. . . . it shifts and drives GREAT, but just when u let ur foot off the clutch and ur moving along, now its making a whining noise, almost sounds like the cd player is spinning really fast but again when u push the clutch in it goes away. . . .any ideas? only thing i got was drop the trans back down and make sure everythings lined up cuz someone told me if its just a LITTLE BIT OFF, it'll screw you over and make all sorts of rubbing noises

sounds like the cable might be too tight at the clutch fork. check and see how tight it is. it should have a little side to side play in it. it does not need to be rubber band tight.

I put a new motor in my car when I put the trans back up I have a knocking noise too. I took the trans back out to make sure it was in straight but still makes it the same noise it seems to be coming from the tail end of the trans when I push in the clutch the noise goes away. :notnice:

Yeah I am having my clutch re adjusted today, i was thinking that could be the problem. . . because when we first got the trans up and running it didnt do it. then he adjusted the clutch and its REALLY tight right now but the problem is, it doesnt disengage until the clutch pedals almost out, tehrs that much play from where its on the floor to its releaseddd, so im gonna adjust it today a little and we'll see if it helps, thx guys, any one else with advice is appreciated

All fixed now, theres a spline that keeps the fork from wobbling around and keeps the Throwout bearing in line, so the whining noise was the throwout bearing whining against the back of the clutch and the knocking was the fork slapping around the trans, now that thats fixed of course something else has to break. . . now we melted the speedo cable against teh exhaust accidentally. . . . .
