What is the best shifter out there for the T-5? How is the Steeda Tri-Ax shifter?

Also, i'm thinking that my clutch is slipping at WOT, because the rpms flutter in the 1-2 shift, as well in the 2-3 shift. After the run, smoke comes up out of the shifter/dash area. However, it doesn't really smell like clutch, or smell like anything in particlar, but I suspect a slipping clutch? Since the clutch is slipping a little, does that mean that I need a new clutch already? Also, how can I adjust the clutch to enguage sooner (goes to the floor before enguaging)?

On a side note, what is the best transmission out there for these Fox's. I'm not in the market now, maybe in a couple of years. I've toggled about the idea of a T56 (out of a wrecked camaro/trans am), or a Tremec 5-speed when this tranny goes. I've been told plenty of times that a T-5 can't take much abuse. If I don't swap trannies, i've considered sending the T-5 off to get beefed up, is that usually a pretty good choice? And if so, how long do they "normally" last?

I've got the B & M short throw and its miles above and beyond stock. I think any of them pretty much are. T-5's can take more abuse than most think. As long as your not making ungodly HP their really is no need for anything stronger in my opinion. Good Luck

If you have the stock quadrant/pawl, pull up on the pedal to adjust the clutch.

If not, use your FWA and/or the rod at the clutch fork (on the adjustable cable).

the three most popular shifters seem to be the steeda tri ax, the pro 50 and the newer (crap forgot it's name, grw? the one with the offset handle) and this was in no particular order.

if you're getting visible smoke, but no clutch oder, it's possible you could have a leak dripping onto your exhaust. Check the trans fluid level, then check for leaks. Could be your front or rear trans seal spraying fluid onto your pipes.
