Transmission suggestions

Hello everybody. I am trying to preparing myself to break down and buy a new tranny. I recently changed out the clutch cable, quadrant and added a FWA to try to resolve an issue that I though the stock cable was stretched. The problem is that after the transmission gets warmed up, it is really hard to get into gear from a stop. I have adjusted the clutch cable so it engages with the pedal almost all the way out, all the way near the floor and everything in between without any luck. I just received my 3 quarts of red line oil so I am going to change that out as a last ditch effort tonight but what do you guys suggest. I am at a crossroad right now. Should I just have the already weak tranny rebuilt or should I just break down and buy a stronger one. I am looking for the bang for the buck solution and need some help deciding. The stock tranny has 130k on it but all the stuff in my sig was added in the last thousand which probably didn't help it. hehe. Thank you for your time and suggestions.

Rebuilt Tremec 3550 or new Tremec TKO 500 or 600. By the time you do 2 or 3 complete rebuilds on a T5, you have paid for the TKO of your choice.

Yeah... thats what I have been reading too... Would I have to or should change anything else to put any of those transmissions in eg. crossmember, different clutch etc. Any places you recommend buying one for a reasonable price. I don't plan to put any more power into this car so future mods aren't a consern... but thats what we all say. Thanks for the reply.

3550 (not sold any longer) and I believe 500 require nothing other than the tremec bell housing. the 600 requires a new driveshaft yoke and clutch disc to match with the different spline count on the input shaft.

tremecs are good trannies. My bro has 20k+ on his 3550. While it's on a stock 86gt, he full throttle power shifts on occassion, and the trans has never even hiccupped.

Thanks for the info I'll start looking there. Guess the 600 is out of the question...

just be sure when you buy one, that you verify the spline count on the input shaft is same as oem, and you'll be fine.
