My stock t-5 is pretty much on its last limb, it will last me a while, but I cant drive it fast, (2nd is really hard to get into, 3rd grinds, 5th whines) so Im saving up for a new tranny. Which route do I go? Even the world class t5's have a limit of 350-400hp, and I want to make more than that in a little while, so what tranny should I use? T56's are so expensive, but its not out of the question, are they hard to swap in? Sorry if that has been posted before as it most likely has, but I just dont know what to do. Search did me no good.

i am in the same exact boat...my t5 still works but 3 is touchy and downshifts are interesting without rev matching. Im considering a t5z for the better OD ratio and a little longer 1st gear. They are rated at 330 tq and 350-400hp. I think if you are fairly easy on that tranny it will hold up just fine. I cant justify spending all the $ on a TKO or a T56.
