Hey guys, I'm having a serious dilemma here. I bought a 91 notch that was a 4cyl conversion about 3 months ago. Last month I put in a new rearend, suspension, and a built up motor in. The only thing I have not replaced is the Transmission. The tranny was a T5-Z trans from what I was told.
Well, just my luck, the tranny blew up the other night. It sounds like there's rocks inside it, and I can't get it to drive in any gear. So I pulled the tranny and on the top it said Tremec, and stamped into the case it also said Tremec, but it looks nothing like a Tremec. Any clues as to what is actually is?
Now to my real question. I want to purchases a new tranny, or have this one rebuilt, but the way it's looking, shops in my area will probably charge as much as a brand new one will cost. I was looking into the World class T5, or possible a Tremec 3550. I do have a very limited budget, and I really don't want to spend too much more over $1,200. Opinions and suggestion are very needed hear, before I pull my hair out.
