I have a bum right hand and the effort to shift my worn stock T5 is bugging me. Before I switch to an automatic I would like to find a good manual option. Anybody that has a Tremec 500 or 600, Astro prepped T5, or G-Force prepped T5, please reply.

I want to know if any of these transmissions have a light smooth feel going into and out of gears. All stock T5's I have had all have a fairly heavy required pull to shift. Are the high dollar prepped aftermarket transmissions butter smooth like I guess they would be?

Please tell me your thoughts. If anyone in the Seattle area who thinks their manual trans is super smooth and silky, please contact me direct at killrbf4@aol.com I would really like to go for a spin around the block in your car to feel the shifting effort myself before ordering something that isn't what I expected.

Thanks,
Brandon

Killr, nothing shifts better than a T5. If that is too effort laden, you need to go to a C4 or AOD.

Out of all the trannies I've experienced, the T-5 is the smoothest & easiest.

T5 is the best, huh? That is a bit of a bummer. Damn these messed up hands, anyway!!!

I might try to pound through a couple races and see how it goes. If my wrist breaks off will someone please drive me home?

You've got 3.55's in back; a C4 will work great.

The Ford Team will be very sympathetic if you sacrifice a limb for the cause.

Ahhhh, now the car has 4.10 gears. That tosses me into the AOD market, unless I want to drive 50mph on the freeway to get good gas mileage with a C4.

Anyway, glad to hear the input. I just figured that $2000 would buy me a manual trans that is slick as snot to shift. Oh well. The auto will work better with a turbo anyway <wink> <wink>

I've got an 8.8 with 3.55's, disk brakes, 31 spline axles, C clip eliminators... I might be interested in the 4.10 8.8...

Talk to me about it at the track Saturday. I might be interested, but I might forget to ask.
