im looking to buy a tremec that is out of a 05-09 gt. I think that means it a tremec 3650. It has a bell housing on it. Does that mean since its off a overhead cam motor the bell housing is different than a no overhead cam motor. I think that is what i read.
My question is can i put in on a 5.0 motor? Do i have to change the bellhousing? What else must i change. I think the tail end where the driveshaft goes is different 2

I am pretty sure that it will not bolt up to a 5.0 block. I also think that the input shaft is too long, but I could be wrong on that.

It won't and the bellhousing is integral, so an adapter plate would have to be used. Then there's that weird external shifter on the back of the trans that may or may not line up with the classic's tunnel.

IMO, not worth the money and trouble unless the transmission is free and in pristine condition.

And, after you've gone through all that effort; you may find that the 3650 doesn't like to be pushed hard with 'aftermarket horsepower'.

There's a discussion going on at a local Mustang board in NC regarding this..... I think my son-in-law (SVTCobra306, unless he finally changed his screen name here and at HPJ) has a Mustang in his shop getting swapped for a TKO. At least, when I checked into that board a couple-three days ago; the Stang's owner was talking to him about it. I should check again.
