Can you guys tell me how much better the AFR's Would have been i stold these TF's for just under $800 still in box never been out of it.

that about all the info i have on afr's i would have gone with the 165's not the 185's

probably a simple "?" but still need to ask cause i could probly turn around and sell the heads and get afrs.
 
Good power can and has been made with both :nice:

Both offer good and bad points :shrug:

I like the smaller chambers of the AFR's for a NA combo.

You can run ped rockers with AFR where as you can't with TFS.
This would allow you to move over your existing OEM rockers for
some savings.

Still ... I ran stud mounts on my AFR's as I prefer them over peds.

The TFS heads offer a larger valve which could be an advantage in
some applications.

After seeing first hand what TFS TW heads can do (worked), and what members here have posted as results I would feel confident going with TFS heads. If I was to go alum. I would look at TFS.

AFR's are not bad at all either

sounds like a GOOD problem to have in the first place :rlaugh:
 
Keep the TFS heads (it looks like you decided to anyway). I chose them over the AFR 165 heads for a couple of reasons, personally. First, I liked the canted valves, so I could run a 2.02 in. intake valve with stock pistons. Try that with a set of AFR 185's, and you're having to flycut. Second, Total Engine Airflow gets some pretty good numbers out of them with their CNC work, so down the road when I end up doing a larger displacement engine, I don't need to buy another set of heads, I can merely give TEA a call and ship off my heads for some work. You could do the same with a set of AFR heads, but the initial investment was lower by going with the TFS heads, too. I paid somewhere around $1200 from Summit, but couldn't find a set of AFR 165 heads for under $1400, at the places that actually had them in stock. Seemed like a pretty logical decision to make, but that's just my opinion. :shrug:
