I recently purchased a 65 mustang with trumpet exhaust tips. I've heard they were supposed to make the car sound more aggressive when you get on the throttle. I was just wondering if what you all thought of these things. I think they came stock on gt's. Should I keep them or lose them? Do they rob any power? Thanks for your replies. :flag:

I had them on first built vert with a ~320HP 306, Hooker Super Comps, and Flowmasters. I liked the sound. It acts more like a baffel than anything. It could be somewhat restrictive but I never tested the car without them. If you are running more than 350 HP I would consider another choice.

One thing you should note is they are made for a 2 1/4" exhaust. There will be a reduction at the end if you are using a 2 1/2" or larger pipes.

I am trying them on my new 289 build using a 2 1/4" exhaust, Mac Long Tubes, X-Pipe and Delta 50s. Car is disassembled at the moment. I plan on keeping the GT exhaust trumpets. If I decide to lose the baffels, I will probably cut them out of the original tips rather than getting aftermarket ones.
