My new engine is supposed to ship next week. So I am running through my parts lists to make sure I haven't missed anything.

I'm down to these:

SPEC:
SF482T MUSTANG SPEC 26 SPLINE TKO/G-FORCE STAGE 2 CLUTCH KIT 10.5"

RAM:
RAM Automotive 98794T - RAM Powergrip Clutch Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com

RAM HD:
RAM Powergrip HD Clutch - 26 Spline (86-Mid 01 Mustang GT and 93-98 Cobra) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

Zoom (I really want this one as my 89 had a Zoom and I loved that clutch, but it won't ship until the 25th if I order it now):
Zoom Performance Products HP48-1S - Zoom High Performance Clutch Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com

I'm limited in my clutch selection since I have a 26 spline TKO as opposed to the more common 10 spline. Anybody have any experience with any of these clutches?

Thanks

I'm not sure if i've driven a Ram or Ram HD, but a buddy's car has a Ram clutch and it's awesome...it held up great behind his ~450hp stroker and the pedal effort was very reasonable...WAY lighter than my King Cobra but stiffer than stock.

I had a nitrous car with a Ram HDx. Held up great and it wasn't horrible with stop and go traffic

LarsD, The Ram powergrip HD you posted from our site kicks-ass!

It will hold all the 400whp launches you can throw at it, but since it is a full-face clutch, it will not turn your left leg into a body-builder's.

The good news is that it is in stock and ready to ship. If you ordered today, you would have it in Texas either Thursday or at the latest Monday!

I hope this helps, good luck on the build!

What is your intended purpose for the car? Street/strip, Street only or Strip only?
How much time will you spend in traffic as a daily driver?
Are there any memebers of you family that will also be driving the car on a regular basis?

A 10.5" Chevy disk comes with a 26 spline hub and can be used without modification with any of the 5.0 Fox pressure plates.

I know what clutch not to get because I hated is so much, Spec Stage III (Luckily my car wasn't a DD at the time). Best clutch for an NA 302 I had was a simple FRPP King Cobra HD (love the light pedal), I think we have a Pro Motion one on the Pro Motion T-5. Pedal is engaging right of the floor so I picked up a UPR quadrant and firewall adjuster which I got in the mail today. It needs adjusting. Never had a ZOOM.

Powergrip HD has a little chatter but grabs real hard, pedal isn't to bad either.

I'm waiting to find out if the flywheel I'm getting with the engine is compatible with that clutch or not. I already have a bunch of parts sitting in my cart waiting to be ordered from you guys for this build.

98% street. I do go to the strip, but not very often. I'll be the only one driving it, but I do spend a bunch of time in traffic.

I believe this is the one I am getting with the engine, still waiting for the builder to confirm:

Ford Racing M-6375-A302B - Ford Racing Flywheels - Overview - SummitRacing.com

I do plan to run the car occasionally with drag radials if it matters.

The powergrip is a great clutch. I also bought thier zero balance billet flywheel and it was within like 5 grams of being balanced with the clutch attached to it

That is a 10 spline clutch disk. I have a TKO with a 26 spline input shaft, so it won't work for me.

If your're looking at 400 flywheel & running on drag radials, the Ram Powergrip would be a perfect fit.

The RAM 98794HDT Powergrip HD is an aggressive clutch that will exhibit chatter on takeoff as it has 900 series sintered iron "pucks" on both the pressure plate & flywheel side. While it will handle just about anything you can throw at it, it may be a bit overkill for your primarily street driven application.

The RAM 98794T Powergrip has the 900 series sintered iron "pucks" on the flywheel side & 300 series steel backed organic lining on the pressure plate side. It still holds up to 500hp & the amount of chatter is significantly reduced. It acts more like a street clutch, but maintains the holding capacity of a more aggressive one.

With either one of these clutch sets, a billet steel flywheel is strongly recommended as a cast iron flywheel will wear in a wavy pattern causing all kinds of chatter & engagement issues down the road.

Would this clutch be OK with drag radials also?
