Tucking Headers

I bought Headman Headers (painted) for my 67 coupe 302 and I was very disapointed because they hung down below the framerail by almost 3". I had room to move them up so I started cutting. I have the passeger side done and you can not even see the header from the side. The drivers side is a little more of a challenge because I am installing a cable clutch and a T5. I should have it done by next week. I have pics but I don't know how to post them. If you PM me I will email you the pics. I was inspired to do this by a post on this site and I want to thank everyone for the great information and inspiration on this forum.

No, I made full length headers that fit like they should.

I'm sure they look good, but the price will be a decline in performance. You should've either bought shorties or spent the extra coin and bought something special like.... kooks for example. Oh well, as long as you are happy who cares, right? :)

u might have got the wrong heders? i bought my longtube headman headers for my 351w in my 67 coupe and they fit like a glove, no rubbing and they fit tight against the underside, u cant even see them sticking under the car at all. i bought part number 88660.

351w have an extra inch of deck height and most longtube headers for cars with 351w don't have ground clearance issues or need a power steering drop bracket. I actually have the opposite problem with my hooker comps on my 70 351w, they tuck in too close to the floor pans and i couldn't get my 2.5" exhaust to clear past the trans crossmember without denting the exhaust.

On the note about shortening the headers, that takes alot of patience but is a good idea to eliminate ground clearance issues. You're only gonna lose and inch or two of tube length, so they won't even be close to the short tube lengths of shorties. To post pics, you'll have to upload them to any free picture hosting website. I like using www.mustangmods.com Once you have them uploaded, click on the Picture icon above the message when replying. Looks like a square yellow box with a mountain scene. It will open a window for you to paste the link to the picture from the host site.
