Hey Guys

I am about almost done installing a Novi 2000 with 30 pound injectors into my 91 mustang LX 5 speed car and I was just wandering if there is anything that I could do to my car to make it run good before I get it tune? I need to save other $800 to tune it… Have also have a lot of small thing to on my car like: GT40 heads cast iron, ford racing GT 40 intake, E303 ford racing cam, Full Exhaust,190 in-take fuel pump, under drive pulleys, 76mm C&L meter, MSD box, Auto lights 24 plugs, timing at 10* and using 91 octane fuel.

If you guys could let me know that would be great….

Thanks

What you could do is start at 10 degrees base timing and run the car and go up 2 degrees at a time till you hear detonation then I would back it down 1 dgree at a time till it quits that will help. thats about all I can tell you without a tune but you need to get a bigger fuel pump. also make sure that your TPS signal is at .99 volts that helps ALOT

Take a voltage meter and put the red terminal on the green wire on the TPS and the black terminal on a ground ( intake works well) and turn the ignition switch on and see what it reads if it doesnt read .99 volts then loosen the screws and slightly move the TPS in either direction till it reads .99 and tighten it down and re check it after you tighten

I'd consider a better meter, your tuner may not be so thrilled trying to get a c&l right on a supercharged car.
I know for a fact my guys would turn you away with it.
Most here know i dislike c&l, but it's a serious risk on a car with a supercharger.

And you don't need an $800 tune, more like a couple dyno runs with a little timing and fuel pressure adjustment.

WOW.. thansk guys..

What do you guys think about a 90mm off a SVT ford lightning MAF ? I heard that work good to..

I called a couple of tune guys around my area and they said that i need a chip $380 and tune time about $150 per hour around 3 hours total...

I'm not exactly an expert but I would think a couple of dyno runs and tweaking timing and a/f would be a bandaid solution. Adaptive learning would be trying to push either too rich or too lean after just a few run cycles. If the mods are past what the computer can handle, you need it to "know" what you have and force it keep you close on the a/f scale. Loading the right maf transfer would help a lot as well as would correcting injector breakpoint, turning off any emissions stuff you have removed so your check engine light actually means something...etc etc

Get it tuned or buy the equipment(@the same money) and learn to tune it yourself.

400 bucks - used tweecer r/t

200 bucks - new wideband

100 bucks - couple very useful programs(BE and EA)

165 bucks - enough moates gear to burn your own chip freeing up your tweecer rt for another car or resale.

865 total

Congrats.... :)
The Novi 2K is a serious blower.
You don't need to skimp on fuel and a good tune with a good chip.
I would also install a GSS340 high pressure fuel pump, 255 inline and 60lb injectors with a matching MAS.
Good luck!!

I'm in complete agreement with Matt...
There are a ton of cool things you can do with a tweecer rt / moates setup...

Don't waste too much time fretting over the tps...
Getting within the range of acceptable TPS values (.7v to 1.2v, depending on the source...) is all that matters to the ecu :nice:

Some VERY good, and recent material if you care to learn more...

A gss340 is enough to power the car without an inline, and 60's are overkill.
He looks to have gt40 irons, e cam, and gt40 intake, that much fuel is just not necessary.
42's would be the right number.

I suggested the inline for insurance and I suggested the 60s for if/when he ups the boost.
With a tune and chip he will be fine with the 60s with room to grow.
lol...the car will not run well with 42s or 60s without a tune.

The car will run fine with 42's and no chip, people have been doing it for years.
And to necessitate 60's he would untimately be in aftermarket block territory.
He seems to be low on funds now, so planning that far in the future makes no sense.

I posted my opinion on his combo and you posted yours. :)
My opinion was posted from my experience with the parts I listed.
I don't think he can go wrong with either set up.
However, driveability will be better with a tune.
See ya!

x2.

You don't want to have a tuner and the car strapped down (after you ported heads/intake) and realize you cannot control the lean spike at 5800 . . .

you also need a boost referenced fuel pressure regulator (or "FMU") if you don't already have one.

$800?!? If you were any closer we do tuning for like $200 provided you have a PMS already or something along those lines.

I know we are cheap but $800 is high anywhere you go.
