Tune up - Coil Change along w/plugs and wires

Just a quick question on whether it's actually necessary to replace the coils along with plugs and wires every tune-up? Last time coils were replaced was 2012 but the mileage is less than 30K since then.

Hey Jet, ignition coils, whether packs or individual on plug type should last 100,000 miles +. They are not a pre-emptive preventative replacement. I only change a coil when it goes bad and I diagnose it as bad. Stay away from after-market coils, e-bay or Amazon "deals" buy OEM when you have to. You did not give the year of your car but if it's running Iridium plugs 30K is too soon, unless you are having issues. Plugs do not age but wear with use or sometimes an issue with fuel, burning oil, timing or head gaskets. Good Luck.
