TUNING SHIFT PRESSURE'S ??

Are you going to damage your automatic tranmission by having the shift pressures bumped up to firm up the shifts? I keep the 3-4 a hair above stock stock setting due to the overdrive 3-4 shift being the weak link.
I've heard so many different opinions on shift pressure being turn up destroying our 4R70, it's hard to know who to believe.

Anyone have any fact's, or is all just a myth.

Thanks Ram

Im about to do the J-mod, then if its still to soft (doubt it) ill use a Diablo to firm it up.
From what i understand the less time it spends slipping during the shift the cooler it stays. A cold auto tranny is good.

From what I am able to surmise, you can only increase the pressure up to a certain point. That point is where there's not enough fluid to pump through to make your shift happen any faster. That point of fluid starvation comes before the point of over pressuring the system. Some people have claimed they increase their shift pressures but at a certain point (like after 7 on a scale of 10) they don't notice the shift getting any firmer. I've increased my shift pressures to the max before but decided to back off since it was too harsh for daily driving.

On another note, I haven't found a firm reference to this 3-4 being the weak link on the newer transmissions. I remember seeing something about it being true on the older ones. Yet, many people state that "weak link" like it applies to all transmissions. <shrug>
