After several years of picking up parts here and there, my turbo swap has finally begun on my '89 conv. Last night I finished stripping all of the engine, hydraulic clutch, and electrical components from the '88 t-bird. Just have the brakes and rear end to get out. My next job is to go through the engine with new seals and bearings and such. I'll be using Stinger's fmic, tubular header, and 3" exhaust with a t3 turbo. I'm also swapping the A4LD for the 5spd.

My first question is, I have a '93 parts car with the roller cam still in it in good shape. With this set up would I see any benefits at all with the cam or should I stick with the stock setup. I'm looking at just a fun DD here. Probably won't ever see more than 250rwhp.

Finally got it in! Also got the tc 5spd in. Had to "message" the floor to get the steeda tri-ax shifter to clear.

I have run into a snag putting in the clutch petals. I'm running the '88 tc hydraulic clutch set up. Can't tell where all the wires go. The two plugs on the left are from the car, the two on the right are from the tc pedals.

Looking good! From my understanding the roller cam will give you good low and mid range power up to 5k or so. It also is nice to know there is less chance of cam lobe failure.

Very nice. With the yellow jack stands and blue shocks I thought you had Bilsteins in there for a minute!

Got my Stinger FMIC installed. Had to lengthen one of the pipes a bit. Fits like a glove now.

I originally went with the Ranger roller cam when I built the engine for my old '87 Turbo Coupe, then a short time later swapped it out for a Motorsport A237 (reusing the roller followers). God I loved that cam, had a lopey idle, and made great power...it wold scream at upper RPM's! That is one nice advantage of getting ahold of the Ranger roller, no need to buy new roller followers.

I went ahead and kept the stock cam for now. May go with a nice Boport cam in the future.
