Can my baby handle 12lbs of boost???

Gotta 03 GT with magnaflow catback and xpipe, gettin gears and short shifter put in within a few days here, then next would be turbo (thank god for credit cards) and a set of nitto's . Im lookin to see if 12lbs of boost is too much for my very stock motor. I wouldn't be running the full 12 all the time of course but i guess im just worried about blowin the motor or causing problems and voiding the warranty. Anyone put this much boost on a stock new body style gt??

12 lbs of boost might be a bit too much for a stock engine. usually people run a max of 9-10 lbs of boost with centri. superchargers. i guess it could be done with a very very good tune, but that much hp and your running your engine on borrowed time...i would forge the engine before turboing it.

U know a good place to look at turbos?? the one i found was like $5000 for the whole 12 psi kit with intercooler.. does this sound about right, i would rather get one with 9-10 then, just cant find one

With a turbo, I think that engine want last. You can get good numbers with about 6-8lbs of boost. Like said already you need to get forge internals with that much boost.

No offense man.... but turbo and warrenty don't even belong in the same sentence when it comes to a stock engine.

Dont worry about offending me man, I need all the info i cant get, as you can problably tell I dont know much about turbo's, I'm lookin for any and all the info i can get on the subject.

your warrenty will be gone as soon as you bolt that on. mines probably gone too, just with my mods in my sig cus dealers around me are not mod friendly.. anyways, if you really want that kit, and you cant find one that is cheaper and less pounds of boost, you could get that kit, and set your blow off valve so that it releases at 9 lbs. but then again it will take a longer time for that turbo to spool do to its larger size. the larger size in effect is wasted, as you are not using the turbo to its fullest extent. i would forge it first, then go turbo. otherwise you are just wasting your cash, and most likly going to ruin an engine.

12psi with a turbo on a stock block will last for about one pass.

Stay at 8psi or lower if you want it to live. Companies that have kits :

Turbolocity
PTK
HP Performance

Companies making kits :

Cobra Killer
Induction Concepts
And a few others that have been threatening to make a kit for years....

I would also wait for the cobra killer kit. His tune will probably be best for street applications. He is Tim from T&J Performance. If you are patient he will probably post on this thread.
