tweecer owners

this is to all you tweecer owners....I was thinkng abot getting one, so I searched around here and read up on some of the prescribed links. Frankly, I was born before the internet, so computer lingo is beyond me...but I'm not afraid of it. Anyway, just wondering how easy are those things to use, do they walk you thru it all? Waht it comes down to is, I'm gonna get bigger injectors and a new MAF soon to compliment the KB, I was thinking the KB switch chip, but the do it yourself tweecer sounds more fun. any info would be great.

To make good use of one, you don't necessarily need computer or Internet skills, you need car knowledge. Understanding how the EEC works will be a huge factor. If you learn easily, like to tinker with things, and are reasonably patient, the TwEECer can be very rewarding. I didn't have any significant issues like some others have had, but then again I really like this stuff, and anything is easy if you like it .

They are pretty easy to get the basics down. Of course, there are some REALLY complicated things in there if you don't have the basics down first. The instructions really suck, but there's a ton of useful information on the web and from guys on here (a-hem Grady!) that really know their stuff. I'm just learning so unfortunately I'm not much help right now, but here are some links you can visit to get some more info too.

well been doing a ton of reading about this thing between work, writing term papers, taking care of the fam and everything else. found tons of info on a bunch of sites, think I'm gonna get one. I figure if everyone else can figure these things out, no reason I can't. I was thinking about removing the KB till I got the hang of it, if/when I get it. thru my reading, general consensus seems that blowerless would be more forgiving in the event of bad "tweecs". Seems the RT version is definenly the way to go. This may sound goofy, but remember, I've never seen one of these gadgets, your laptop does not need to ride along all the time with this thing installed right, only for the datalogging or making changes?

You are correct, the tweecer does not require the laptop to be in the car at all times.

I would not recommend removing the KB just to get the twEECer. When you reinstall it, you'll just have to start over with a whole new tune again. Just remember to make SMALL changes, and you should be just fine.

From the things you say, it looks like you have done your homework on the subject.

Also from the things you say, I'd be willing to bet your gonna have some fun and be pleasently surprised by the things you can accomplish by being able to talk to the pcm.

Yes, read up on a bunch of stuff, even ordered the books from the tweecer web site,couldn't find them at Barnes and noble. Just fininshed up with school for a few weeks (Embry Riddle On-line classes Rock), so got some free time to tinker with more stuff, do more investigating. As rootus said, knowing more car stuff, specifically the working of the EEC, will help mke this thing work. Guess I'm gonna go on a part time crusade to build myself a nice little knowledge base of the inner EEC workings. Let me throw this out there:
if I went out right now and threw some bigger injectors on say 42lb'ers and a MAF to match, say Lightning, in a nutshell you would load the supplied MAF transfer functions, and adjust the injector slopes?, should run after that? Don't get too detailed if that's not the case, but I can't see it being that easy.

Brian, uploading the injector slopes and maf transfer will get it running. But in most cases it takes a little tuning to get it running 100%. But for the most part, yes it is that easy.

ANyway, yeah, I learned a lot in the beginning, and havent touch it now for about 6 mos...I prolly forgot everything I learned.

My mini crusade....picked up that book from the tweecer website, anyone know any other good reads concerning the tweecer/ford fuel injection...besides the internet.
Found a BUNCH of stuff on various sites, been messing around with the downloads from STKR, granted I haven't ordered a Tweecer yet, but, after doing the homework, might not be that bad.

up late huh? Yup, ton of info there, recently became a member, along ith EEctuning, qwiksnake, and some other sites. i was hoping for some book type stuff, heading out for a while, Kuwait, won't have much time or access to mess around on a computer, in out of Iraq, Afghanistan and the like, but I can read a book on the back of a plane. Actually did three weeks of school work over the Atlantic Ocean a few weeks ago coming from Spain going to the Azores.

I too grew up before the internet. But, I was so impressed with the TwEECer and the results I got from it that I became an authorized reseller. To me it's worth the learning curve to have the real time control.
