Twin Turbo vs. Supercharger

i know that a twin turbo system is going to be way more money and probably a lot more difficult to install. on the bright side it'll have more power, and lag shouldn't be a problem. A supercharger is cheaper and instant response, but with a supercharger you lose power to make power, it would take more to make the equivalent power.

superchargers hit the boost pretty fast which equals crap gas mileage. apparently since you want road racing, you arent that worried about it. As far as personal preference, Id opt for the twin turbo in a heartbeat. Superchargers arent even thought about at that point. Installation, its a little bad, but with the correct piping, its a breeze. Although I cant say ive done any on the S197s, the others were a headache, but nothing to hoot and holler about. As far as road racing goes, I still say turbos. I dont have any experience in road racing for im a drag racing guy, so its just my own opinion on the subject at hand. And hell, what is scarier than a rumbling V8 with an insanely loud blowoff valve??? NOTHING

Overall a twin turbo system properly set up would be an ideal option.Since I work for Gale Banks I know a little bit about turbo stuff..having said that though, I have a vortech blower on my car and am getting 25mpg on the hwy @ 70!..programming for a twin turbo setup is much more difficult to figure out that that of a standard supercharger application.Plus, you have more issues to deal with when it comes to smogging the car and getting approval.So, have we looked at a TT setup for the mustang..YES..are we going to offer one?..NO..But, we will most likely have a supercharger application out 1st quarter of 06.

I guess if youare hell bent to use forced induction then the turbo would be better. But I think most road racers use NA cars for two reasons:
1) They are better balanced and lighter.
2) Using an aftermartket turbo will significantly change your race class with a Mustang.

Since you have some time before you want to make any decisions, I would keep a close eye out for aftermarket Head/cam swaps. I don't think anyone has anything reliable yet. But over the next year or two you should see some nice packages come out that will cost you a lot less than FI.
