I changed my PS pump about a month ago, probably less. It was making a pinging like noise, only louder, and all the time. One time it froze, then un-froze when I turned the car off.

Well fast forward to yesterday. It locked up again, and would not un-freeze. What the hell would cause two pumps to go bad in like 3 weeks? Maybe something in the lines?

could be something in the lines, or it could just be a crappy remanufactured pump

it can be the rack and pinion too it did you do a full flush before replacing the power steering pump if theres trash in the rack and pinion it will mess up the power steering pump fast

It has to be something in the lines. I cant see how two would do the exact same thing.

So whats the best way to go about flushing the lines?

I'm not a big fan of the parts store parts, so a bad pump or two is not out of the question.

What flavor of fluid did you use? I recently flushed my system and replenished it with conventional Type F and the performance sucks.

I might also consider spending 20 bucks on an inline filter for the system. It should help catch trash in there (with filters like Magnefine, they bypass if they fill up).

Good luck Eric.
