two questions in one!

ok first question.
in addition to buying 4.10 gears, what else should i buy? the brand im buying is Motive, so i kinda thought of buying a gear installation kit. would it be necessary? i know some will suggest a chip, if so, which one and where could i get it from?

question 2:
temp's here get to around 100+ in the summer, and it seems that when it is this hot, my speedo likes to jump around then die. it ONLY does this when it is hot out! during the winter, or cold temps, it will work perfectly fine. before pulling the cluster out, can anyone suggest a fix for this?

1. Most people swear by the FRPP gears. That is what I went with and based on a couple sites I have seen for the install it is well worth doing with the FRPP gears.

You can get them for some pretty good prices too and do the install yourself if you have the time and a little bit of patience. I wish I had done mine myself looking back.

As for the chip it depends on how your trans handles the 4.10's. It seems like some are OK and others aren't. I would install gears before getting some type of chip or tuner for the trans.

2. After doing my borthers speed cal i would say to check all of the electrical connections you can find first. I would honestly start at the trans and work up as under the car will see more of a temp difference than anything inside, that is unless you do not use your heater in the winter and a/c in the summer.

Motive gears whine. Like 94302vert said, go get some FRPP gears. Are you installing them or are you having them installed? That really depends on exactly what you need to buy. Are you just getting the chip for the gears? What other plans do you have for your car? That might help with which way to go for the chip part. I put a speed cal on mine to fix that last part. It has worked well with no problems.

i'm gonna be installing them along w. a friend who has experience installing gears. i was just gonna get the chip for the gears really. my plans for the car are to do a hci install by the end of the summer. and as far as the speedo cal, should i just buy a speedo gear or is there an alternative?
