two step

I was thinking about getting an ignition box recently, and i know MSD is kind of crappy but i saw their 6AL capacitor discharge ignition box says it has a two step. Is this the same two step that people have in their cobras? For some reason i didn't think our cars were able to have this. I thought it had more to do with the computer:shrug: Thanks guys

just like having two rev limiters most use them for leaving the line at the strip for intsance mine is set along with the line loc at 7200 when the light comes down you release the button releasing the line loc and putting the two step on detting two which is high end rev limiter which happens to be set at 7800

Well i have 2 friends with cobras and they both have the two step for launching. They put the petal to the floor when their not moving and the car bounces of 4K rpms. It was the first i have seen of it on the cobras, thats why i said that.

Same as installing the msd box it uses dip switches to adjust the revlimits and you can use a button to arm it set your two step at 3500 wire your arming switch and mount to shifter and wire your final rev to 6,200. push button hold to floor let off button and go like hell shift before 6,250

I dont know why you would really need a two step? Do you race the car on slicks or drag radials? I dont think there is much of anything to gain from a two step if you dont b/c i cant see any car launching at WOT at any rpm...nevermind 3500 or 4000.

Im interested to know how this box will work for you. good luck

when i was rebuilding the car, i took out the factory rev limiter because it was junk and didnt work. Now that im driving the car i figured i need a rev limiter to be safe. I saw that box with a two step and figured why not

How exactly did you "remove" the stock limiter? Did you do this with a tuning device? I have a separate limiter in my car right now with the Tweecer...and i thought a chip/tune/xtender was the only way to move/remove the limiter?

well i was told the stock limiter on our cars is originally under the drivers seat. When i was ripping the car apart, i saw that it wasnt even plugged in and the wires were cut... Plus before the rebuild of the motor we had the tach in the 6500 area. I know the stock tachs are off but i figured the limiter wasn't working.

After i took it out i asked a guy that has been building mustangs for years and he said that was the original limiter and i should put one in...but maybe thats wrong:shrug:

But now that i have the motor together i dont feel like testing out the 6250 limit lol
