Progress Thread TxFireman’s Electric Red Coupe refresh

I mounted up the alternator with the bracket I picked up. The other bracket, the alternator stay bracket, needed some modification too. I ended up just doing away with it and making a new one. Basically it mounts to the front of the smog delete bracket then goes around the alternator to the lower mount point. Mocked up a template and sent it over to a local shop to have it cut out on the water jet. Should have it in a couple of days. I’ll get some pictures of it mounted up once I get it back.

Set the engine/transmission in the car today. Needed to get it put in so I could finish mocking a few things up, so I can order a few more parts. Glad to finally be making some progress!! Ignore the AC compressor, it’s just a junker I’m using to lay things out lol.

Got my other alternator bracket back from the water jet guy. It’s made out of 1/4” plate. Fits great, just need to clean it up and paint or powdercoat it. It bolts to the front of the smog pump delete block.

I mounted the C950 ECU under the drivers seat on my 85. Did the same thing, took the harness all apart, moved stuff around, get the fuel pump relay inside the car. I cut a hole in the tunnel just behind an existing one. I wrapped the harness that lays on the transmission with a DEI heat wrap, just in case. I probably have pics some where, but all I can find is the harness going thru the tunnel. I've had a HP sitting on the shelf for at least 5 years. One day, I'll upgrade.

Got some work done on the fuel lines to the rails, and started assembling all of the front accessories to verify proper alignment. The engine bay sure fills up fast! At least it’s starting to look closer to complete. Once everything is mocked up I need to figure out catch can placement and line routing for it. Once I figure that out I should be able to start putting everything together for final assembly! I have the AC delete pulley on there for now just to get it going, then I will be buying all new AC parts for it.

I don’t understand what I’m seeing. It looks like solid tubing coming off the outlet of the S/C w/ no silicone coupler...and the tube that is butted up to that w/ a bov isn’t attached. It’s also puzzling to see the tube exit through the fender apron when you have no intercooler. I’m guessing that you intend to weld these all together at the outlet?

Again, it’s not finished, just mocked up, I have a 2” hose that runs from discharge to the bypass valve (not a BOV)

It’s also puzzling to see the tube exit through the fender apron when you have no intercooler.
There’s nothing going through the fender apron except for the power pipe which has the filter inside the fender well and attaches to the inlet of the supercharger on the other end.

None of my piping will get welded together. Here are a couple of pictures showing what the Anderson Power Bypass setup looks like. And before you even ask, no I don’t have a mass air meter, the Holley EFI setup is speed density. If I did have a mass air meter it would be on the end of the inlet pipe with the filter. Finally decided where I wanted the baffled 12an fittings on the valve covers. Mounted those up, ran the 12an catch can lines and made a oil fill tube and cap for the passenger’s side cover.

I’m guessing that is the mondo BPV? Could one run a BOV instead of the bypass on these centri sc setups?

you can run a BOV on a supercharger but if you are still running a Mass Air setup the BOV has to be before the mass air meter. So it would have to be a blow thru setup. This setup would not work with a BOV because the mass air meter would be on the end of the power pipe behind the fender, aka “draw thru” setup. You cannot vent to atmosphere after the mass air meter because that air has already been metered and it will throw things off. That is why it uses a bypass valve. It takes the air “Bypasses it” or puts it back into the system. That’s the whole purpose of a Bypass valve.

now mine is a little different because I’m running Holley EFI which is speed density not mass air. But I’m still bypassing it for noise purposes. BOV’s are loud, especially for a car that is driven a lot. Sounds good at first but gets annoying pretty quick lol
