I bought a cleaned up Typhoon from someone on Corral and I found some GT40s on craigslist. Is this gonna be too much intake for a street car? I also found a pretty good deal on some Performer RPMs, but id rather go with the GT40s since they are only 250 for the pair.

My setup would basically be, GT40s /w 1.6 roller rockers + Typhoon + Stock Cam on a Speed Density Tune.

my situation was, i was running the thumper e7s, and a tmoss lower.
when i swapped to the typhoon, it lost a tad bit of low end grunt, but more than made up for it with more power on the top, seemed to pull harder up top.

the low end loss wasnt really that much but you could tell.
the typhoon is a good street manifold but for your application i would try a gt-40 or explorer intake, would be better matched to your combo since your using the stock cam. or even a tmoss stock intake would work well.

Yeah, thats what im thinking too. Decisions Decisions...

I dont really drive the car much though, only a few miles to work everyday. Maybe I could do a cam swap too and really make some power.

Speed Density limits those choices though.

I think it would be fine, especially if you got a good deal on it. If your not 100% about using it and you can find a buyer for the Typhoon, then go with a cobra intake. It's a "go-to" intake that's perfect for a street only Stang.

No doubt the typhoon is better suited to a car with higher flow aluminum heads but it will still increase the power over what you have. A GT40 style intake will be a better all around intake for your combo.

its a good fit.

HOWEVER, the typhoon is basiclly the rpm intake, which is setup for 2000-6500 rpms. so that being said, you will great power in the 2k range, but under that, you will most likely lose a bit.

if he got aluminum heads for $250, i would jump all over them. i think he means the explorer heads. how do you figure the gt40 is a better intake? the lower is way more restrictive and needs ported to really do anything serious!
