I have a typhoon intake that I bought several months ago and finally got around to taking it out of the box and looking at it. I laid the 1250 gaskets on the ports and there is very little metal in the flow area, maybe 1/32" on some ports. Is it necessary to completely clear that metal or is it insignificant to flow capability?

Depends on the degree of your build, if your looking to squeeze every last ounce out of the engine..sure do it!! However if your just building a mild engine like myself it can and the intake is free of casting flash (mine was a nice part)it can go from the box to the engine. Results I did have on my H/C/I using the untouched typhoon were excellent.

If you're going to the trouble of picking up a stroker, go ahead and spend a few hours with a dremel and port match it. I put mine on untouched as well, but I probably could've benefitted a little from the port work, although mine looked pretty clean.

alignment on the head installed is more important than matching to a gasket. If the gasket matches the head runners perfectly, then use the gasket as a template. If not, there are instructions on my website in the download section on how to make your own for porting the intake.

Thanks TMOSS, This will replace the manifold I bought from you, on a new engine combo. I finally decided to replace the 195,000 mile shortblock that I've put 30,000 miles on with thumpers and your intake! It's still a blast but I've got the rebuild fever again!
