Hey Guys, Does anyone run with just an underdrive crankshaft pulley (with the remaining ones stock)? Is there much HP gain? If so, how much? Will I need a shorter belt or will I be able to adjust the tensioner enough to compensate for it?

The only reason that I am asking is because I do not want to change the alt. pulley because of charging issues I have read about since I have an aftermarket radio with subs. Just trying to figure out if it makes sense to buy the complete 3 piece kit and only use 2 of them or just purchase the one pulley.

Thanks for all the imput.

First, Search, it's in here somewhere.
Second, yeah, you can do it, but it will still slightly underpower your alt. Getting a Smaller pully for your Alt might be possible, but i don't know where you could get it.

www.aspracing.com has the smaller 1-7/8" alternator pulleys.
I believe they also sell the 3 piece pulley kit with the 1-7/8" alternator pulley included as an option.

instead of running just the crank pulley just leave it stock and save yourself any headaches. what r u gonna gain with just the crank pulley, 2hp, if that.

If the crank is truly only worth a couple HP, I will either do all three or not at all.

I gained a noticeable hp increase and a solid tenth or better with my pullies. I then took my alternator pulley off (charging issues) in favor of the stocker, and had a noticeable loss of power. But now I have a 200amp alternator, so I put my u/d's back on.

Maybe if you can get them used then do it. Otherwise skip them for now.
