UFC 100

I have the same opinion....except the exact opposite. :D

Either way, I learned a long time ago, that the guy that should be a clear winner, isn't necessarily the one who's going to come out on top.

Most of all I just hope the fight card lives up to its hype. The only fight where I dont like the fighter is Henderson VS Bisping b/c I cant stand his c ocky attitude. I like GSP but I think Alves is just to powerful for him, if he gets into a striking war w/ him GSP will prob lose his title. Ilike both Mir and Lesnar but Im pulling for Mir.

Welp...not bad. I called 2 out of 3 of them.

Bisping....well, what can be said. His children are probably feeling that punch.

Another well deserved victory for GSP. Alves held up better than most and had exceptional power and conditioning, but he just couldn't match him in skill. Especially on the ground. I normally hate to see a fight go to a decision, but this one was about as clear cut as it gets.

Lesnar is an ANIMAL!!!! He pounded poor Mir's face into hamburger. Very impressed with his performance. There was actually one point during the first round that I thought we were going to see a repeat of their last fight, but Lesnar squirmed out of it. I know many hate the man and don't considering him deserving....but how can anyone deny him now? And I love his **** you attitude. :D

Really good fights over all what a great card. To bad they all cant be like that. GSP's skill are just amazing. Alves has massive power but he could not close the gap and get inside and whenever he threw kicks he got taken to the ground. Props to Alves to taking it all 5 rounds and not allowing GSP to knock him out or submit him. Alves just needs more time. The crowds reaction to GSP VS Anderson Silvia was unreal. That fight has to happen but GSP has to make the decision to move up a class, he said he had no prob being 185 b/c he walks around at that weight anyway.

I really wanted to see Mir win but the odd thing is I do like Lesnar, I guess its b/c he can be such an ass hole and so many people dislike him. I dont like the fact that he walked up to Mir after he pounded his face w/ his anvil fist and told him to " Talk your $hit now" but you take the bad w/ the good I suppose. Currently there is not anyone who can match size for size w/ Lesnar and with his speed and power. Think we may see him at the top of the HW division for awhile.

Whatever happened to guys like Arlovsky and Silva? Seems like their is no one to even challenge Lesnar in that weight class.

Silva is a bum the guy sucks. Hate saying that since he is from Maine but when he had the belt the HW division was extremely weak. Hes fighting over in Japan now b/c he cant hack it in the UFC. Arlovski is also over in Japan, he recently lost to Fedor (SP). Arlovski just went down hill after awhile and is not the fighter he used to be.

Best part of the night was Bisping getting his head knocked off, keep running your mouth you mouthy brit. What I hate is the fact that he knows Henderson has power in that right hand, his corner told him to stop circling to the right but hes such a c ocky arrogant prick that he didn't listen to anyone and well.... He just became a highlight real for Ultimate knock outs!

I knew it was just a matter of time before Bisping got exposed. He rightfully lost to Mat Hamill he only won b/c it was held in England. I do not think he is the caliber of fighter that the UFC has placed him on.

Actually....I took his response at that exactly being his problem. He said strait out he need to put more muscle on his frame to come up to that weight. 185 may be walking around weight, but he's not in shape at that weight. Besides...I thought you could fight in a higher weight class regardless of weight? I though it was the other way around that you had to cut weight to make a class, not gain it? Ideally, GSP should probably not deviate much more than 5-10lbs from his fight weight. The muscle/water weight he would gain would come at a penalty and I think his quickness and mobility would suffer. Those are his biggest strong points.
Lesnar has no class. no surprise since he is a former WWE wraaastler.

Maybe....but lets be real. How much respect has he been shown from the other fighters and the fans since entering the UFC. Sure, he got his shot early, but that's Dana Whites greed and bull**** marketing, not any fault of Lesnars. I dunno...if I got greeted with boo's at every turn and called a flash in the pan by people who just couldn't come to grips with my talent, I'd probably have a bitter attitude too.

I have no respect for Lesnar. He has no clue about the fight culture (respect for your opponents), just the bs from his pro wrestling days. There have been fighters that were hated when they first started but they showed class and respect despite the booing and eventually won a lot of fans over.

As far as the fighting I haven't really seen any progress in Lesnar's skills. His stand up is still very messy and his ground game as far as jujitsu is concerned still looks to be lacking. So far he has yet to fight anyone who is a good striker. Mir is known as a ground guy, Heath Herring has never really been a feared striker, and Randy Couture is a ground and pound fighter. They need to match him up next against a good striker like Arlovski or someone who will make it dangerous to shoot in on. The problem is once he is on top of you he weighs so much more than everyone that all they can do is lay there pinned and hope that they can find a hole to squim out of.

I'm sorry man...I like Andrei Arlovski as much as the next guy, but he wouldn't stand a snowballs chance in hell against Brock Lesnar. He's far too timid to attempt to take the man down for starters and simply hasn’t got the oomph behind his strikes to get it done during stand up. Hell...look at the way he danced around with Tim Silvia the last couple of times they fough....he's lost his edge. And I don’t think there’s anyone silly enough to think Silva could stand against Lesnar. Hell, Mir broke his arm in 3-places and Brock destroyed him! In his prime, Arlovski may have put up a good effort, but at this point in his career, Lesnar would go through Arlovski like wet toilet paper...no question about it.

Even Fedor Emelianenko doesn't stand a chance IMO. He's known as a heavy weight ground and pounder His stand up game is awful. I think a lot of people are banking that his size combined with his Judo skills will get Lesnar down on the mat for a ground and pound, but there's never been anyone as big, or as strong as Lesnar in the UFC and the man has quickness that rivals that of a welter weight fighter. Watching the way he manhandled Mir last night was almost sickening.

There's no way that Emelianenko is going to be able to get in on Lesnar like he has on previous opponents. One thing we also know about Lesnar, is that 45-gallon drum like head of his can take a punch. And as far as delivering them....well, we all know he doesn't even have to connect dead on with his punches to devastate. The sheer size and weight behind those hams is more than enough to get the job done. He had what...all of about 4 or 5-inches of wind up behind those punches he was hitting Mir with...and he turned his face into Hamburger! Remember the glancing blow than knocked Couture right out of his boots when they fought? He's just too big, too strong and too fast. The man is a pure animal!

You don't need to like him, you don't need to respect him, but you'd be a fool to underestimate or ignore him. The guy is the future of the heavyweight division in this sport....hands down!!!

One Youtubers opinion....Warning...NWS, contains a couple of F-Bombs

+1 on everything. Andre is not the fighter he used to be and Tim Syliva would get murdered against Lesnar. Right now there is not anyone in MMA that can match him for size power and quickness. Someone mentioned a few posts up about how lesnar has not improved at all, I disagree. He did not make the same mistakes he did VS Mir as he did the last time. He was much more patient and did not leave himself open as before.

The UFC has not had a bad boy poster guy in a while. Not since Ortiz there has not been many fighters that are highly disliked. Many of the UFC fighters now are really well liked fighters. GSP, Forrest, Franklin, Liddell, Rampage, so I think the UFC is welcoming a guy that stirs such controversy.

I was waiting for the longest time for Bisping to lose because I never thought he was all that great either, but he kept racking up the wins. I'm glad he lost. How about a Lesnar vs. Kimbo fight. :rlaugh:

I think it would depend on which Arlovski would show up to the fight(the agressive Arlovski we saw all the time or the more timid one). He has been pretty inconsistent in his last few fights (his fight with Fedor was going very well until he got careless) but he has very good boxing skills and might be able to pick Lesnar apart in a stand up battle. On the ground would more than likely be a different story.

I still stick with my statement that Lesnar has not really improved. Granted he learned from his mistake in the first Mir fight and didn't underestimate Mir's ground game this time, but he is still very sloppy. It gets the job done for now but what will happen when someone does manage to take him down and put him on his back? He is very one dimensional right now and that eventually will cause him problems.

At this point, we don't even know if that's possible. Put aside the fact that he's bigger and stronger than anyone else in the game right now, and the fact that he's as fast, agile and well conditioned as he is....this guy before getting into the MMA game was a world class wrestler. And I'm not talking about the WWE crap either. Most of his training and conditioning is for situations just like that.

He's also not one to stand there and let someone "pick away at him" either. He goes in fast and hard. The only way to defend against an attack like that from a man of his stature is to not be there when he's coming. That's pretty tough to do considering how much area this guy covers and the speed in which he covers it.

You've almost got no choice but to lock up with this guy in close quarters...and we all see what happens then. I sometimes don't think people realize just how strong he is? The traditional defense positions used with other fighter quite frankly are ineffective against Lesnar, since he seems quite frankly able to muscle past them. Its like trying to lock up against a Kodia Grizzly. If he doesn’t like the position you’re in, he’ll grab a hold of you and contort you like a pipe cleaner until he does....he’s that strong!!!

I can't dispute how strong the man is. The grizzly statement is pretty much dead on. The key to beating him will be a very sound game plan. I think Couture had the right idea with trying to push it into later rounds to test how long he can go that hard and fast. Being that big he has to use a lot of oxygen to just keep the muscle mass moving which could be a weak point, but we won't know until a fight does make it into at least round 3. The worst part about fighting him is that you can't afford to take a punch from him which lets him throw a jab cross then shoot in. I think if the UFC could find a heavy weight that is very good at stand up and can move around and work the angles on him they could possibly time him shooting in and crack him in the head with a knee as he comes in. Like you said though he is fast and agile but he is still primarily a wrestler and they are usually the most vulnerable when they shoot in.

Keep in mind I am not trying to argue with you I just love fight strategizing almost as much as watching or actually fighting. Not very often I get other peoples views on fighters. The guys I train with usually have the same things to say as I do. I just wish the UFC had a deeper talent pool in the heavy weight division. it used to be pretty decent and they got caught up in the 155 class and let the big guys slide.
