Alright... well it always comes down to this... like i said b4 i dont care what you drive american or import... doesent matter to me... Well to some of my friends it does... My friend with his LS Vtec Integra thinks he will smoke the stang at the track.. even with a new clutch h pipe and explorer manifold... I know what it runs... i beat him with my probe the best time he has seen was a 14.9 i know i can hit better 60's... You think the mustang will be able to hit mid 14's after i finish putting in the rest of the mods i have bought... oh and rember its a low track... low=fast...

With the parts that i picked up what do you think ill be able to pull in this car... i am a good driver so i plan on a good 60' and i will be running 315's in the rear when i go...

from looking at other peoples times 14.5 ish looks about right untill i can get gears, headers, and a cat back then i might be able to take it in to 13's on stock heads n cam...

You should take him. Vert's are heavy though. Don't underestimate HP to weight ratio!

Make sure you break that new clutch in before you hammer it at the track. Drive normally for a couple hundred miles.

Depending on their weight, you might be better off with the stock rims. Big mags will hurt performance big time. You're not making enough power where traction will be a big issue. (But they do look bad azz!)

One of my friends HAD a car just like that and I SMOKED him. By about a bus length. He is a horrible driver though. And I mean HORRIBLE. And this was when my car was almost bone stock.

getting a probe to get a good 60 and getting a mustang to get a good 60 is two diff. things. Mustangs are one of the more notable difficult cars to get a good 60ft out of. It takes practice and close attention to what the car needs to get a 2.0 60ft. on street tires...deff. not impossible just dont expect to go out your first pass and pull off a sub 2.1 60. I am in NO way saying you cannot...just dont expect a 2.0 since you got some 2.0's in a probe.

with my old stock longblock with my only mods being 14*, pullies, 3.73's, and a K&N....

I would leave someplace around 2k-2,200rpm and shift at 5k. In short step by step.

Drive around water box and spin the tires to clean off (stree tires set to 25psi or so) only.

Stage and hold the rpms at 2k-2,200 depending on how track was hooking.

last yellow dump the clutch and mash the gas.

5k quickly put the clutch to the floor and shift without lifting the gas and release the clutch as fast as possible.

repeat

got an av. of 2.1 60's with a best of 1.9 all on 245x50x16 street tires (non-DR).

DO NOT RACE ON THE NEW WHEELS/TIRES!!!

It will hurt your time. Your traction is not in width. It is in sidewall. Your typical 315 tire is very low pro. (unless you get some slicks) Not only that, but they will be a bit heavier. Just keep the RPM's down on the launch (around 2K) with regular sized tires. And take advice of others above, these guys have seen a bit of track tiime in a 5.0 Stang.

nah, they will be heavier, but they will help him out a bit...even though the tires are a 35 series sidewall, they are about the same height as a 45 series sidewall because it all goes by percentage of the width...since a 315 is much wider, even though the sidewall series is lower, its about the same because a 245 is narrower...if they are jsut 315 street tires, hold it at about 2000-2500 and slip it out on green and you should do fine...i got a 1.99 60' on 245 street tires doing exactly that, so you should be about to get about a 2.0ish 60' if you can do it well:nice: good luck man

There you go getting technical, Michael. I knew about the percentage deal ..... but my original 245/45's were taller than my 315/35's. Plus, I was basing it off of actual driving. My old tires would hook a little better @ 2K. But yeah, I agree that it's not ALOT of difference, but the weight is. Personally, I could hook just a little bit better with the old ones. Now, try to drop it at 3K+ ..... the 315 definitely hook better .... but where does that get you on the track?

I have 315/35/17 street tires, the tires I made the passes on years ago were 245/50/16 on the stock waffle stars and for now some 245/55 or 60/15 BFG DR on pro-stars.

I can and will say that the overall height of the tire is close but the sidewall is NOWERE near the same. The 315's look cool and are not bad but are worse from higher rpms than the stockers on a launch, the DR are damn nice and will be getting some 315 DR when these street tires are done. You are not going to get as good of a 60 as you would with the stock size or slightly bigger v. the 315 street tires, add that you more than likely have a heavier rim to hold the 315 and you further handicap yourself.

yea man, a short throw shifter (not just the handle) will help you out immensely!! yea im drunnk, and i use big words..

i should be alright this has about the same throw as stock actually and bacause of the angle im able to move it quickly... this works fine for me till i can buy a pro 5.0 or something

My tires on the tri bars are in bad shape they are peeling and chunking... i think it would hurt me to use them...
