update on my 5.0

well ford has had it for two weeks. called me today to pick it up. and i got there and was excited as hell and was just praying everything was ok. so before i headed home which is 25 miles to the other side of town i rode around the area where the dealership was just testing the car and what not. and not even 5 minutes off the lot the check engine light was blinking then came on solid.

the guy told me when i picked it up it would smoke a little due to burning some excess off and what not. so as i drive it around the area it starts smoking a bit excessively. not big puffs or smoke or anything but enough for it to b noticeable and i could smell the oil.

so i immediately turned around and headed back to dealer to see wassup. guy at the desk called the manager. manager said sometimes when u blow a motor like that itll shoot oil back into the exhaust and what not and onto the o2 sensors which makes the check engine light come on. so what i'm getting is burn off and the o2 sensors r probably covered in oil. sooo he said instead of driving it like that and risking any harm to anythin they kept it and put me back in a rental and are going to replace the o2 sensors

sooo hopefully by monday or tuesday everything will b cleared up. but while i was driving the car it drove wonderful. way better than before i must say. smoother in all ways besides the smoke

so thats whats going on now

Sounds suspicious to me. I thought you were getting an entirely different engine not a rebuild of the existing engine...And if he knows that oil blows back on the sensors on blown motors, he should have burned it off himself then replaced the sensors before you ever got to drive the car. I'd make them order you an entirely different engine from ford racing...and if they wont, Lawyer up!

they will normally rebuild unless there is something wrong with the block. as far as the oil in the exhaust.... yes this happens... whenever i rebuilt an engine i would run it for at least an hour THEN go on a 15 or so minute test drive and send the porters out to put extra miles on it too. then run the scanner on it again to check for any pending codes.... that way there was no way something would slip by me...

It is a completely new engine. I saw the paper work. Costed like 7000 for it. Then had other parts like tensioners and what not ordered also. I dnt think they had driven it other than detailing the car.

When I got there they had just started it to let it run. I could totally understand the exhaust having oil in it. Sometimes it take a few cycles for a code or something to pop up.

The code didn't pop up til I had driven it for 5 minutes or so. Car ran beautifully other than the small amount of smoke.

Since the dealer is up the street from my job I'm going to stop in and check on it when I get off work. If it was truly just the o2 sensors then those only take an hour or so to replace so I should have it back today

well stopped by there on the way home this morning and all the managers were in a meeting. so talked to one guy and he didnt know anything he called and asked had any work been started on it since this weekend. and the guy on the phone said no nothing had been started.

then he was like if they r ordering a whole new exhaust then itll b a couple days

That guy didn't know anything. Everybody was n a meeting and he just threw some **** out there

the guy handling my case called me at about 530 today and said that they replaced what needed to b and the car was running fine and wasn't throwing any codes. Also wanted permission for the shop manager to drive it home to test it out and make sure it was running fine and no codes were coming up. I told him it was fine if the manager took it and put it through it's paces to make sure everything was fine.
