update on my family.....

this is an update for those of you who read and responded to my family situation....for those of you who did not this is a quick breakdown....in feb 2005 my sister and her common law husband decided to split and call dhs on each other (both are druggy's) .... dhs took them the next month deciding neither one was a fit parent....i found out that dhs had them the first of july, after talking it over with my wife (not having kids of our own) we decided to go for the kids....in doing this we had to do alot of things (bigger house, beds for each child, child proof the house, parenting classes, drug test, criminal history, putting them in school, etc., you get the point).....this is now oct 06... my sister had lost all rights along time ago, and since is back in jail and looking at serious jail time (got caught a month ago making an illegal lane change, driving without a drivers liscence while on probation, driving a vehicle not in her name, possession of stolen property, possession of stolen property with intent to sell, and busted with drugs).....the father had court last thursday and his rights were suppose to be terminated ( was suppose to take and pass 3 straight drug tests and hadn't taken on since the first of august, take a psych evaluation, and do parent classes which he has only started) but he told the judge he wasn't being properly represented by the court appointed da, so he wanted to get his own lawyer.... in doing so the judge extended his right until january 07..... well i guess thats all for right now... please ask any question.... this helps me release stress...

Hellova lot more productive than doing what others do...or what the bio. parents did to vent.

true...so true....lets just say that within 1 month of having the kids, the middle child asked why me and my wife didn't fight like their real parents....they have seen some fights...hitting, tearing shirts, throwing stuff at each other including the father throwing a tv at my sister......if i would have seen him that day mmm....well thats all in the past...but i'm teaching the boys to wrestle when they feel like fighting each other(i used to wrestle in h.s.)....

Yes, wrestling will wear the down REALLY quick, lol.


Just wondering ..... if the father gets by in court in January ...... does this mean he could possibly take custody? I sure hope not. Once again, I commend you for doing what you're doing.

I wrestled from 6-16 (got really burned out by the time most just start) and stoped after my freshman year, got a chance to wrestle varsity that year to boot at a school ranked in the top 5-10 in the nation. It is GREAT all around. Self defense moves as most fights end up on the ground. Great conditioning and exercise to get and stay in shape. Plus is a sport like martial arts that teach controle, thinking, and dicapline(sp? to bad not spelling ).

Any exercise is great for getting frust. out.

I too hope he does not get custody that would be a huge mis-justice.

well i'm not sure...the parent(s) are suppose to be given an average of 15 months to straighten themselves out....it was just about over, but since he wanted a different lawyer, it made it like a mistrial and therefor judge had to give him an extension.....so well see....ohh and just found this out from dhs, his parenting classes are allowing the father to see the kids 1 at a time for 30mins each and observed by both dhs(they are against the visit since he hasn't done *****) and a few councilers.....

if DHS is against it I dont think it will be a hard sell to get the court against him.


Give him all the rope he needs to hang himself...the more the better...I mean the more the longer the drop. At least if someone WANTS there kids and makes a change they can get them back...too bad it doesnt sound like thats the case. At least they have a good family with you.

Props to you MI95Cobra I wish there were more men like us, when it comes to having kids, if you make it you should take care of it. Props to you again. I hope you get to keep the kids.

Hey THANKS everyone...this really means alot to me....i tell people all the time i'm a member of a mustang forum, with great people....but like i said its a way for me to vent since i don't want to do it at home (the kids)...they really are great...just had a bad run...i can tell you story's until i'm black and blue or my fingers hurt...heeheehee...since it wasn't important enough for the parents to put the oldest in kindergarten 2 yrs ago i had to do it last year....he excelled(both him and his younger brother won 10 awards between them)...this year the oldest is struggling...he just had his first after school detention ever...i was pissed....so far he's gotten in trouble 4 times this year so far and i told him 1 more and No halloween...

You are a good guy for doing that. If you still have them as they grow just remember the old say that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. This means that one of them may havethe genetic predisposition for getting into trouble. No kidding. So you may have to watch one more closely than the other.

My cousin has adopted 3 special needs kids. It's tough work, and HUGE battle with people in public. Sad to see people walk away from kids that need them most. They can't help the situation they are in or the way they are.

My car club has really stepped up to help them feel welcome in life.



Definately kudos to you and your wife.

hey like i said thanks everyone...some days are more stressful then others....i like to work on cars to help me relax...i used to have a 92 gt which i constantly up graded(when i first got them) before i sold it to buy my 95 cobra...now since i'm having to hold on with mods, i have my ps2 and this forum...i teach them wrestling, and have a set of rules that if they break they go to their room and sit in time out...

Best thing is to be firm and consistant. Once they get used to that and know you will not roll over or apologise for "thier" behavior they should learn that if they act out...they will be punished.

It sounds like you are and man that has to be wierd at that point...having it hit you that your actually doing good even if it hurts you to punish them. They are kids and they will do stupid crap as every kid does. I just hope its not too late to make a real difference in the long run. At least they have someone in thier corner trying like mad.
