Trying to find a source for these " what I will call" upholstery screws...
These hold my rear interior qtr panels on and mine are rusty.... McMaster didn't have them and I could not find any doing a search.... Somebody has to make them?
They have a " fitted" washer under the head.. It should show in the attached pics...
Anyone have a source ?? Thanks

LMR and CJ Pony both have interior hardware kits. They would have the screws you need in them, although I don't recall if they had the captured washer on them or not.

What length is that screw you have pictured? 1"?

FoxResto no longer sells parts.... strictly service now.

There 3 different lengths I need.....
If you read the LMR kit contents closely there is NOTHING in it for a Convertible rear qtr panel......
I found some at Uphostery Supply USA.. I would have to order 400 of them...... 100 per box....

A vert does not have any different screws from coupe/hatch, hell all the cars/trucks from the 60's up thru the 90's, prolly still but I don't work on those so.......
I have interior screws of nearly every type but limp wants new shiny stuff I'm sure, a couple days in a vinegar soak and good as new, but likely not good enough for him. :nonono:

#8 Oval Head Pan screws. The ones with the washer are special, but not necessary. The later years discarded that feature and go with more traditional oval head screws. I think my '88 had a couple like that but I've discarded them for a more traditional oval head screwe

I bought mine in bulk off McMaster. More than I need, but this covers 90% of my needs.

#8 Oval head in 1", 1.5" and 2". The rear quarter panels on the 87+ cars use a 2.5" screw but I think i only needed two.

The #8 pan head screw is for where plastics fasten to metal, like the dash and the rear trim to the hatch floor, etc.

You might be able to go to local hardware store and buy these in smaller qty for cheaper. I just bought it all in bulk because it's nice to have them in bins ready to go.

The trick with plastic interior trim is not to 'hamfist' tighten them, plastic to metal squeak to annoying and guy's just twist it a little harder until they crack the plastic, sometimes breaking off the boss that's on the back of the panel, I've repaired a bunch, the old trim panels were metal, not now. So to combat squeaks I put a very thin, REALLY thin, rubber square between plastic trim and metal, got pretty good at cutting tiny squares from electrical tape, holds the screw in place too.
Just an old guy doing what seemingly looks like a useless thing
I HATE squeaks :nonono:

This kit doesn't have what you need?

It lists screws for: "Lower A Pillar, Rear Lower Well Trim, and Interior Quarter Panel", as well as many other locations.
TY for the link... I must have 10 attaching screws I need for each side, not including the interior screws ( these are fine, not going to replace) that holds the rear qtr panels together, so no, the 4 screws this kit comes with are not enough...

Ok, so I looked at the Oval Head pan screws at my Local hardware store and the screw heads were a bit small...
Ended up ordering from 85 stang guys recommendation ( AMK Products) and very pleased with what I got....
Had to order more than I will probably need to meet the $30 minimum but Like 5L5 says " I got em now" ...
