I am working on a project (truck) that involves mounting a radiator that I will have to fab brackets up for.
In my searches, the 67-70 Mustang upper/lower mounts came up, and the design is almost exactly what I need. The '71-73 look similar, and would probably work too, if the core size was right.
I have done a little research, but I'm seeing different dimensions. The only dimension I'm really concerned with is the thickness of the tanks on the radiator. This http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy01.asp?T1=SD87+01&Category=Heating/Cooling&CatKey=Cougar shows that ~2.25" was the maximum Mustang core width, but if I go someplace like here http://www.championradiators.com/ford-mustang-passenger-side-outlet-radiator-67-70 they list 3" tanks. I understand champion isn't Ford, but champion has been pretty good about getting close to factory dimensions, .75" off is pretty significant.
I really need something that will clear tanks roughly 2.5" thick. I am fairly certain I've seen that size or larger listed for Mustangs and can't find that now, but I figured I'd check with the experts!
There exist flat strips of rubber that COULD be used, but the Mustang mounts would make keeping the rubber in place with a bracket very easy since they have the little "nubs" to lock it into the bracket.
