UPR O/R X?

Just got my upr x today and had a few questions on installing it. The part came with a 2-3 inch long extra piece of pipe that is flared on one side, does anyone know where this piece goes or if it is needed. My second question is will it be easier to go ahead and connect the 2 pieces that go on the driver side header before installing the x itself......or should I installl the header tube first and align up the x pipe then connect it to the rest of the x?

That 2-3" peice goes in the pipe on the driver's side and don't put it all together. Do it peice by peice under the car or it won't line up correctly.

It's an easy install...Did both mine and my wife's (along with catbacks on both) by myself in one weekend. (She usually helps, but was down and out that weekend and I couldn't wait...!) Airtools (must have extensions and swivels or prepare to be frustrated) makes it simple...add some patience and some breaks and you'll be fine.

Buy some swivel sockets, and several different length extensions, and make sure you have something to use as a breaker bar, chances are the manifold bolts will be tight.

The little "cup" goes in the end of the drivers side of the pipe, like said.

Other than that, as long as you get the car up high enough its cake.

Yep, this part is key. All I had when I changed the mid-pipe was the spare tire jack. It sucked rectum. It took me HOURS.

Dang man, I commend you for that!! I had a set of small-ish sized ramps, a floorjack and two jack stands. It was too cramped for me.

Yea it was horrible. I had one side of the car jacked up on a curb and did it at an angle. It gave me just enough of a lift to do it in about....4 hours. LOL, it sucked. It was a very stupid and very dangerous method, but damn it, I wanted my x-pipe on there correctly!

On #6 of the instructions, it mentions installing the header gasket but I didnt get one of those either.....so can I re-use the factory gasket if its still in good condition, if not im sure I can pick a couple up at the parts store.

The 'cup' or 'funnel' goes on the driver's side, at the manifold, not the catback end.
You can reuse the factory gasket (on the pass side) if it's in good condition, otherwise head to your local Ford dealer's part's dept for one.
IMO, the SLP LM II is a great choice. My wife has that one hers. Mine's a lil more on the nasty side (Borla Stinger). Either one would not disappoint; neither is what I would consider tame.

I used the little piece and I think it helped make a better seal. I had to use rtv to seal up a leak on the driver side midpipe to catback connection.

Well now that I have the x that i want i am looking into either purchasing SLP LMII or Bassani BX CB. First off I will start off by what I do/dont like about my current setup which is BBK O/R X w 40 series flows. Sounds great at idle and WOT, drone doesnt bother me, I like it being loud. I hate the "in-between shifts" backpressure or lack of noise every time I shift unless it is at really low rpm's. I don't like the snap crackle pop of the engine winding down when coming to a stop (main reason magnaflow is not an option). I have listened to lots of clips on the net, and the Bassani and Slp sound similar but I'm sure that gives them no justice. Hell, I think my current setup sounds good from the clips on the net. So i'm asking you guys for youre personal opinion, experiences and hopefully I can make up my mind from that.

Bassani BX? Whats the difference between this and the regular Bassani? Is it just that its non-stainless? Do they use the same mufflers/design? I am also on a budget and the best price I could find was from RPM@$415http://rpmoutlet.com/musv8bx.htm

Thanks HoustonGT, youre car sounds awesome and you were ripping on it pretty good . You mentioned taking the baffles out in one of youre threads, did that make it much louder?

The BX version doesnt come with baffles at all. Ive heard a few GT's/Cobras with baffles and it is noticably quieter, BUT who would want that?
