i want to uprgade my brakes and i thought of going with the 13" steeda cobra brake upgrade for the GT..what do you guys think of that upgrade will it be noticably better than stock? any other kits you guys have in mind? (im on a tight budget too)

PPI ( www.mustangparts.com ) does offer a 13" Cobra/Bullitt brake upgrade for $400.

I would like to *think* that PPI's brake kit costs less than what Steeda is asking for their 13" kit...dunno for sure, but hey, you said you were on a tight budget so it's an option to consider. :)

Linky: http://www.mustangparts.com/suspension.htm (scroll down till you see the following text):

2001 Bullitt front 13" brake kit, includes 2 Bullitt brake calipers with mounting brackets, front brake pad set, 2 brake hoses, and 2 Brembo brake rotors, perfect for 1994-04 Mustangs!, limited quantity, new... $399.99/kit

1994-04 Cobra front 13" brake kit, includes 2 "COBRA" brake calipers with mounting brackets, front brake pad set, 2 brake hoses, and 2 Brembo brake rotors, perfect for 1994-04 Mustangs!, limited quantity, new... $399.99/kit

mustangparts.com kit mentioned above.. 13" vented brembo rotors, stainless steel lines, PBR calipers (which look identical to the baer kit).

Do i need anything else to buy or is everything that i need in that kit from mustangparts.com, how do you like your cobra brakes? i was thinking of buying the steeda cobra brake kit from mustangtuning how do these 2 compare?

I have the Baer brake kit. It is a great improvment over stock! It really hauls it to a stop fast! I have the Baer front track kit 13" cross drilled/slotted zinc washed front rotors twin piston PBR calipers/ braided stainless brake lines. for the back I have power slot rotors and Hawk brake pads. The total cost for this was around $1300-$1400 its a great setup if you have the money but the Cobra calipers are identical to the Baer ones. There made in Australia by PBR not sure if there are any differences in them at all?? The rotors in my opinion are much better than the base level Brembo vented disks... check out brothers performance that where I got mine. Good luck and happy stopping!

Im debating right now over the mustangtuning cobra brake kit or the mustangparts cobra brake kit.

EDIT: the calipers are all the same, but i think i'd like the brembo rotors that come with the Mustangparts kit as well as calipers for either a bullitt or cobra.

The Mustang tuning kit is cheaper, but i'm not big on slotted rotors and i don't want my calipers blank or saying STEEDA on them

I dont see lines included with the mustangtuning.com kit either ???? anybody got these wanna let us know if the lines are included ???

They look cooler, but the plain solid rotors offer the best performance.

If your car is just a street car and you want the look of drilled/slotted, they spend the extra money, but don't expect performance improvements from it.

baer. Their track pbr have bigger pistons than the 99-04 cobra rotors(they are the same piston size that the c4 corvette had. plus most of these companies are selling refurbished brake kits as new. While some work fine, some have problems with their piston alignment, wear, etc. Good luck getting replacements if they go bad, which i have seen happen to many $399 pbr "cobra/bullit/mach" brakes.
Also that red paint on those cheap calipers never lasts 10k miles, they are not powercoated. ANd the rotor options they offer as all junk except for the stock brembo rotors.

That said, go Baer.
