Do what ever it takes to win i.e. weight reduction, short belt, iceing the intake, removing the front sway bar, sticky tires.

Well, since you already know what he has, just pick a better combination. Whats his set up? I'll put my recomendation list together once you tell me his combo

how exactly does removing the front sway bar help? Just interested in the mechanics behind it.

It loosens up the front suspension so the front end will come up easier,,its usually good for about a tenth.

Sounds like he's got one heck of a combo. I'd suggest one of the TrickFlow kits, maybe a stroker on top of that. That would be a sure fire way to win him out. Also, Play with your rear suspension. it's a 4 link, but it's not "tuned" for our cars specifically. there is a lot of aftermarket stuff out there that can make ya pick up your nose instead of roast your tires.

race weight with him in it is 3100lbs, he has 4cylinder springs up front and 50/50's out back, and can get it going off the line very well... so he says " "

dude get something comparible to his combo and 4.10 gears and you're set. He has 3.73 right, so you should really be able to keep up w/ even less power if you get 4.10 gears. Learn how to drive well, driver skills wins races when power is close. Every time I raced a nearly stock FOX it's always neck-to-neck so the weight difference i haven't noticed in street races.

I think it will come down to the better driver even if you out mod him. You can have a 11 second car but you can be a 15 second driver. Get some gear in your car. And with his mods im sure he is a decent driver. So practice you driving too.

With that many mods done to his car you're gonna have to do the same but better. Buy a good stroker kit with a H/C/I combo with a gear and exhaust upgrade. Wheels and suspension upgrades will help as well to help keep that bad boy tight, under control, and on course.

Does he have a stroker or built/re-built bottom end too, the reason I ask is well I thought 2.02 valves would not work with a stock piston/bore unless the heads were TFS twisted wedge? With GT40 heads and a shave with the B cam he should be close to piston to valve clearance? This has me thinking he has some work done to the short block... stroker, stock rebuild with better pistons. Now a stronger short block does not mean more power, just it should be able to handle more power I know, but if he has a stroker then he will have more power.

get some tfs heads or aft165 heads, a better intake/one matched for the combo and a cam from ed curtis if you want to most out of the heads/intake.

With gt40 heads I think the intake he is useing is not the best as a ported typhoon/edlb. intake should make less trq. than a good ported or stock gt40 intake. Look at the tmoss intakes that have made more trq than the edlb. ones some members have swapped too. You will need a combo that makes trq.

I am the guy he is talking about with my new combo..

I'm gona get the pisons notched by my shop while there installin the GT40P's

I'm hoping for 11's N/A.. with the new set up and some good driving...

also hoping for 310+RWHP

reason on the intake is because I got a great deal.. and with the B cam I'm not gona have much below 3000 anyways...

There is more behind getting gears just to make up for no power....like for instance...i will be running 4.30's when i get my h/c/i upgrade this winter.

Its all about matching the combo and giving the car what it needs or will use the best.
