Thought I’d pass along, for those who have the predator programmer, what happened to me when I tried to update the revision number on mine.

Mine came out of the box with the 42f file and after reading what the update was http://www.diablosport.com/Downloads.php I thought to myself, why not. I’d probably use the fast logging more than slow. So I uploaded the 43a file to my programmer.
While I was modifying the tune before installing it I couldn’t find the traction control option to turn it on or off, it just wasn’t there. After installing the tune second thing I noticed was an immediate drop in the idle after I started the car. It was steady but down around 500 to 550rpm, normally it bounces between 630 and 680rpm. Thinking I just need to get it out on the road, I took a ride and the next thing I noticed was the speedometer wasn’t working. Next thing I do is look for trouble codes only to realize I can’t, when I check for codes all it says on the screen is P1000 OBD Systems Readiness Test Not Complete.

Needless to say things were a little screwed up.
-No traction control option
-No trouble code scans
-Idle drop over 100rpm
-No Speedometer

Hopefully, I’m an isolated case and others who have updated to the 43a revision with no troubles will jump in and let us know. Otherwise, I’d have to say update at your own risk.

I took a big part of the day going back and forth between the original tune and the predator tune hoping I might stumble across something I missed or some new option(s) or anything else. Only thing I could find different was the speedometer would work until I set the axle ratio for the 3.90s, other than that things remained screwed.
I posted a thread about a number for diablo or someone who had updated their programmer and had a backup of the 42f file. Thankfully, Pertums had it and sent it my way. Thanks Pertums I was worried most of the day until you hooked me up. I uploaded the file and everything is back to normal and working like it was.

Hey Pertums, think you can send those files my way? I'm thinking of updating my Predator to r50, but want a way to return to the original file if I need to....not looking foward to the problems 281Ponies had. My Predator came with r42b and I saw in your other post that you have that file. If you could email it to me at 01PonyGT@comcast.net I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
WES

r42b is like 6 revisions ago. Wouldn't you want the latest and greatest, r50 ?

Yup r50 is what I'll upgrade to, but I want to be able to go back to the r42b program that I have now if the upgrade doesn't work. I've read a few posts about people losing the speedo and other problems after upgrading their Predators (read the first post from 281Ponies in this thread). I just want to go back to what I know works if the upgrade doesn't.

Hey, I just got my Diablo yesterday from RPM outlet, and when I adjust the tire/wheel size my speedo stops working. Any sugestions? I'm at work and don't know what version it is.

just curious....has anyone contacted DiabloSport about the speedo issues with the Predators? I'm wondering what they're answer is?

Cross your fingers; I'm updating to the latest revision this weekend....hopefully it all goes smoothly, otherwise I'll go back to my original version (thanks again for the files Pertums). I'm upgrading because I want the ability to modify the factory tune....tired of running Premium fuel just because I have 4.10s in the rear.

getting help from them is like trying to get water out of a stone. i've called them a few times and emailled them as well and it's fair to say support is not included with the product...

well technically it is, but you're better off here than there i would imagine.

I uploaded to r50 two nights ago and everything I had problems with before has been fixed except for one, the menu still says: P1000 OBD Systems Readiness Test Not Complete when I tried to scan for trouble codes. Don’t know if it matters but I tried scanning for codes right after uploading to r50 and before installing the tune. I plan to see if I can get any information out of scanning for codes later tonight now that a couple of days has passed and let you all know.

You'll certainly benefit from it and it will correct the speedo for the 4.10s. I felt a nice SOTP increase from the Predator with my mods (check sig for mods). It changes a few things like timing and fuel, etc. You can also manually adjust the timing as well, but it isn't as easy as setting it to 14-15 like you mentioned. Everything is on a scale and percentages. You can bump it up so many percentage points, but you really don't know exactly how many degrees it is. Of course, you have to use 93 octane fuel with the Predator tune. Which is fine, but at $2.10/gal here in NJ my 80 mile daily commute is starting to get costly. I'm hoping to update to the latest revsision r50a so I can play around with the factory tune and still run 87 octane or maybe 91. My version doesn't have the ability to modify the factory tune.

I just updated to the r50a version from one of the r42 versions. Now the Predator displays 3 tune options: Diablo Tune, Factory HP Tune, and Original Backup. The Factory HP Tune wasn't on there before, so is that the new r50a version, or should I be using the Diablo Tune?

I've only had this thing a week or so & the version that was on my Predator originally didn't do squat.

Thanks.
