Educate me about your heads, did you intentionally shave the heads to get a higher compression? Did you never plan to add boost or spray?

It was all an afterthought, asked around, people on here, including these tuners said i should be fine,so i did it,now the story is differnt....

I have afr 185s,all i know when i got the engine put together was we were going for 10-1 compression, not sure what they did to get that, drove it for a couple years until this

Did your engine run hot during those couple years? Any detonation while NA or was it only after the SC?

I wonder if adding a meth kit will solve a detonation this severe. Also if it does help the worry becomes if you ever run out while in boost your motor is toast.

OK so pull off the blower belt- have the, tune it N/A for free. See if they can tune it then. Sound like a bunch of ass monkeys to me. 10:1 and a blower is nothing.

What was your A/F ratio and timing/ fuel tables during the dyno runs

I'm also wondering if your compression ratio is higher than 10:1? Also when you say detonation are you positive it is(detonating)? You're not experiencing an ignition issue(miss etc)? I'm just checking for clarification not questioning your abilities or anything. Seems like a probable timing issue/fuel map etc like mike stated above. I also agree on the assmonkey statement. Lol

i know i have valve noise, typewriter tthing going on,and when i was na,i did hear the stroker sound and some minor exhaust leakes, but it never detonated, all i know is it sounds like a machine gun from 1plus psi,he said he took as much timing out as he can?....then i left it at that cause my motor was still running!

and my motor from day one as a stroker ran from 180-195,when it was cooler out,and 195-210 on hot days in traffic??......they are still saying to run the stock fan?.....but my car stock didnt even run below 180 with it?!....idk!

Can someone explain this piece to me from the above article?

above article said:
We couldn't just dial back the timing manually in the ECU like in the 6-psi application because it would compromise driveability. The best way to do it is remove timing little by little as boost increases, and the only way to achieve this is to add a timing control box.

Why not? Because of the lack of a boost reference? Who cares if you're running mass air along with a meter that's not pegged? You can command as much or as little timing advance as you want based meter flow. The exception would be a mass air meter with very poor resolution or worse... a removable sample tube (not calling any names).

Edit:

the above article also said:
"I like the programmable 6AL-2 because it has everything in one box. That makes it easier to mount, and MSD has great programmable features that can be adjusted on a laptop," comments Burcham. "Adding an MSD 6-series box of any kind is always a great idea with a supercharger. The multiple sparks help the combustion process."

It's for all that boost below 3000 rpm that centri-blowers make.

@84Ttop any advice here ? I think the meth is warranted in this situation . Even though I think it could work without it with the right tuner . The meth would get you the octane needed to not have a detonation issue .

Im at a stand still now,i gave them a chance but im done with these guys now also.....
Now,on there dyno it saw 9 psi?,i need to lower that im sure?,the 347 from 333 did minimal, was as high as 10.1psi on the 500rwhp run?

If i need to go into it and do somthing here guys let me know?

And are they right with my temps being too high?

Also lowerd compression a bit with new gasket?,should i lower it more?

im talking with another tuner i should have went to before,im going to see what more he has to say,but your opinions are welcome

My car runs 180-196 no issue . It's been as high as 206 on. A 98 deg day and 90 percent humidity . Heat doesn't help but I don't think it's out of the norm

@toowlow91 @smkshw can someone give me the abridged version on what's going on here?
I have run 10:1 stroker combo's on the dyno/street/track for years and years without meth or intercooler without incident. I'm having trouble sifting through the details over the last few pages

its a long story its all in this thread, but after install, got my first tune,499rwhp,drove it home it was detonating like crazy,so i parked it,next morning i checked my oil and it was mixed with water!,blown head gasket!
replaced head gasket with a thicker one,9333pt1,cylinder pressure went from 185psi to 160psi
changed pulley from 333 to 347,re tuned, and got 418 rwhp, but its still detonating from 1plus psi,the tuner said that my car runs to hot?,and for it to work i have to get my temps below 180deg?.....in the summer my car runs between 185-195 moving, and 195-210 in hot traffic?

@84Ttop , it's also a 331 stroker that ran fine for 2 years or so until the SC and tuner got on it.

I have a retard question, how would the car run if he just removed the SC serp belt and stayed out of boost? I'd like to know if the car will drive fine and rev high without detonation while naturally aspirated with this current tune. Assuming the SC has it's own belt separate from the other accessories.

@84Ttop....with the 333 pulley it got as high as 10psi,and with the 347 as high as 9psi?,i thought the 347 would give me 5-6psi?....i need to find a pulley to keep me in the 5-6psi range, but at this point it dosnt matter because its detonating from begining of boost?
