I got the 255 sitting right on the bench. Tonight was cool air. If the 155 performed good tonight, it's likely to hold up long term. There's no doubt the plug gap was a huge factor and the major issue in the stumble. I agree the 155 might be close to it's limit, but if it wasn't for the excessive plug gap (for boost application), we wouldn't even be talking about possible pump issues. The wideband says fuel demands are being met.

After thinking some more, I'll go ahead and change the pump. You have convinced me the added extra is good insurance. Heck, the 155 is probably so close to its limit that a change in weather or line voltage can make the difference if it fails or not.

Keep you posted.

...and the saga continues. But it's aproaching a good ending.

When I gapped the plugs, I cracked #8 insulator when installing. So, all tests run since then have been on 7 cylinders. I found a spare plug laying around, gapped it and slapped it, now we're hitting all 8 again. Good gawd man, this things gettin better all the time.

As for fuel demand, no doubt it's hungry for more now. It begins to lean out above 5k clearly now. The pump install is #1 on the future agenda.

I removed the dipstick when diagnosing the dead cylinder but forgot to put it back before the test run. Needless to say I made a mess blowing oil out the tube. Just enough to make a mess but no real harm done. Doh!!

Anyway, it was probably always hungry for fuel as well as having the spark being blown out by excessive gap.

Can a misfiring spark plug fool the wideband by letting the unburned fuel continue to show rich when the functioning cylinders are actually leaning out?

The 255 LPH pump is in. She's now holding mid 11's in the AF all the way to 6k. Running great. Cant push 2nd gear though with my lame tires. If I try 2nd from a 25mph roll, at about 3900 rpm it looses traction. 3rd and 4th gear totally kick butt!!!

I still need to change the plugs, wires and dist cap/rotor just for the heck of it but everything else is pretty much in line.

It hit 8.5 psi at 6k rpm. I wanted to take a vid of that but mistakenly took the AF instead. Just then it started to rain so my fun ended. I'm gonna go back out and document the 8.5 psi with a vid soon. Meanwhile, here's the third gear pull AF reading. You hear me stomp it from a 40mph roll and take it to 6000rpm before letting off. It gets through 3rd pretty quick!
