Valve springs for my GT40 Irons with crane 2030 cam

Hey guys, I know I should probably upgrade my valve springs before I put my new crane 2030 cam in, but I was wondering which springs to get. I want to do the valve train all at once so i'll be installing 1.6 aluminum roller rockers, and a crane 2030 cam on a set of GT40 Iron heads.

Crane recomends part number #99841 for that cam. I think that will clear your valve seal boss without machining, but I would measure to double check.

summit is pretty good dealing with something simple like this (its just looking in a catalog), but they do have a fair amount of tech guys that are bench racers ( I had one swear to me that plasma moly iron rings are the same thing as chome rings, and was trying to talk me into regular moly rings for my N20 motor) Call doug Herbert performance if you want good tech

Is it nessecary to upgrade roller rockers and valve springs when you put in a new cam? Or let's say I want to just get new valve springs and a cam but stick with the stock roller rockers, would that be a bad thing to do?

not bad to run factory rockers assuming they are in good shape check them out fully before you put them back on, but one thing you need to think of getting is new retainers and locks, your stock exaust stuff will not work aftermarket springs (at least all that I know of) because of the rotators.

my brother and I are running similar combo's.

HIM: gt40 heads, 1.6 roller rockers, and a tfs stage 1 cam. He used the tfs valve springs.

ME:Gt40p heads, 1.7 roller rockers, and a stock HO cam, Me, I used the tfs valve springs too.

I was going to get crane's valve spring kit which comes with new retainers and locks, so no worries there. Does anyone happen to know if the 96 explorers came with the same rockers as mustangs? I've looked at the ones off my 86 block and off my 96 explorer block and they seem the same.
