The PO of my '90 5.0 decided to remove the vapor canister, so I have a fantastic rich fuel smell when driving the car (not my cup of tea). I picked up a vapor canister from a guy but it only has one port, the inlet. There isn't a port on the canister to run a vacuum line to the purge valve and then back to the intake. Everything else is identical. He said it was from a 4cyl, which may explain the difference.
Can I use this canister on my V8, and just not run the line back to the intake? I don't get a CEL the way it's currently set up, I just want to get rid of the fuel smell. Perhaps the 4 cyl version just sent the vapors to the canister, then vented out the top of the canister instead of back to the intake?
