Vapor Canister hose question

I was poking around the engine today and I noticed the hose below (circled) was disconnected. What symptoms would result from it being disconnected? I had some problems and I think some of them might have went away when I re-connected it, but I wanted to verify that it was not a coincidence.

You would have had a vac leak with that disconnected. What problems were you having? My canister hose cracked up by the intake and i had idle problems due to the vac leak.

Idle problems and the engine would vibrate REALLY badly as I accelerated, not noticeable at high speeds.
