I am planning to use a transmission with electic speedo drive in my car with has a "mechanic" speedo drive. In fact, it is not mechanic as there is no spinning shaft between transmission and speedo, but the gear driven sending unit that sits on the transmission is different from the hall sensors used from 1999 on.

To avoid having to dismantle the transmission and changing the speedo drive from the gear drive to a hall sensor, I was wondering if devices are available that can "translate" the hall speedo signal coming from the sensor on the transmission into something my PCM and instrument cluster can interpret.

Ford Racing Parts offers this "Speed Changer 94-04 MY" which I think may do the trick....however, there are no technical data or description available whatsoever. I wonder how they think they can sell things when they don't tell their prospect customers what they offer... Well maybe that could be a benefit of the current economic crisis that this kind of arrogance is cast out of them...

Anyway, does anybody know if that unspecified Ford Racing item can do what I need, or know any other product that can?

Since the Ford gimmick says 94-04 model year I would assume it covers both 1994-1998 gear driven and 1999-2004 hall speedos...
