Vert back window??

allright guys, I just bought this 95 gt vert. The top was replaced, but the back window and the small strip under the back window was not replaced. I have a quote from a local shop to replace the back window for $405, ouch! That seems a bit high considering I've seen them advertised in MM&FF for about $200. Has anyone replaced just the back window (supposedly the back window and bottom strip is all one piece), and if so how difficult is it? Should I attempt it myself and save $200 bucks for go fast goodies, or let a pro do it?

By the way, if anyone cares about my progress, I managed to advance my timing and with the 93 gas, she runs good. Also today put in an Alpine head unit. (wife had to have CD player) Still working on exhaust and FIPK. I think I will go ahead and order a K&N FIPK, what do you think. Next project, probably tomorrow, will be new plugs. Speaking of plugs, should I trust that new plugs are gapped correctly, or should I check them?

put it in yourself. I remember when i locked my keys in my car WHILE IT WAS RUNNING, i had to smash it out. Granted i have a coupe, it was time consuming as hell. Luckily i had a parts car(look in sig). Suck it up, clear a day, and get down with it.

I bought the back glass for $100 and paid a shop $200 to put it in for me. That was on my '92 convertible. On that car I would have had to sew in a whole new zipper to get it in. Do the SN95s have zippers for the rear window?

No I don't think they have a zipper, at least I haven't seen one yet, but I really didn't tear into it yet to see what all I would have to remove to replace it. Anyone else here with a vert?

I have a 94 GT vert and replaced the whole top myself. It took me two days, but it saved me about $500-1000. I bought the top from M and T manufacturing off the web. I think the whole top and heated back glass cost me about $400-500 shipped. They will also provide instructions. The instructions helped a lot, however they have not pics, so I suggest getting a Haynes or Chiltons manuel to remove all of the panels and such that are required. The rear glass and "bar" that it attaches to are seperate. The top that I took off my car was just stapled (not just regular stapler, contruction staples) to it. I did the same when I replaced it and it works great and looks great. You will have to take the back part of the top off to replace the rear glass, but that just staples to the same bar. I highly recommend having someone else around that can help hold pieces here and there. Most of the job can be done by one person. i replaced the top myself too- took about 10 hours for me and my dad in one day. It's do-able but the glass is a bi@tch. It looked great but about a week ago - (two months after installation) the contact cement i used craped out and it separated-> thats where the money is on having someone else install the window and top cuz some places wont replace the top withough the glass because it wont last and they don't want people bichin to them

If the glass is attatched to the top already DIY and save like 500 bucks
