I have 94,xxx miles on my stock vert. top and the holes in it keep getting bigger and bigger, and water is getting in my car like major bad. i don't want ot buy a new top yet!! i don't have that kind of money. is there anyway to fix it with out having to bring out the big bucks?? and what is the average price for a new top. just the vinal outside stuff is all i need the rest is in good condition from what i can see??

My car just ticked over 102000, and I finally gave in and bought a new top. My car was like yours in that it was leaking bad in the back conv. top well. I called around to four or five places and the cheapest I found was $931 out the door with tax. As far as patching it I dont know, even if you do find a way to patch it, it probably wont look that good by that just my .02

My grampa found someone in town to do it. And its going to be just like the top i have on it now. and its going to cost $1000 and its being done wensday. soo my stang is parked at his house, cause he wants it over there.. Idk why though. but iget to borrow his pickup truck

Both canvas and vinyl have their advantages and disadvantages.

Canvas looks better but need more care and cleaning.

Vinly does not look as good but is easier to clean and maintain.

If you are willing to put up with the additional cost and hassle go with canvas.

It's worth it. You only need to give it a good clean once or twice a year and waterproof it 2-3 times a year. The only sucky part is if it's not properly water proofed, you can get a tad bit of water inside if you get caught in a TOTAL downpour or go through a carwash. hehe
