hey all

i bought a 99 exploder motor from the junkyard a couple months ago, in the hopes to do the popular GT40p + exploder intake swap onto my 5.0. My car does need to pass emissions though, and i want the best gas mileage possible. I just read some threads, however, saying that you cant run egr on the 97+ explorer intakes. I just dont really understand why. cant i just get a 65mm egr spacer and run all the same lines? or am i completely missing something?

TIA

The newer Exploder parts simply don't have the internal passages for EGR.

Have you seen this thread?

My Exploder stuff is off a '96 model, but I have seen pictures of later parts, and its not even cast into the intake whatsoever. Even the ACT sensor must be relocated.

You could make it work. You would have to drill and tap and hole in your headers. And run a tube from there up to the egr valve like it was on the motor from the factory.

you could also run a 94-95 header with the EGR bung in it and then a 94-95 Cobra intake with the EGR cast in and take the EGR plumbing system outside the intake. Sell your intake.
