Very serious about buying this 94 gt, anyone with carfax?

Hey guys, well I think Ive finally found a great sn95 5.0 stang  Im really excited, its a 1994 gt vert, laser red on black. The car has only 105,000 km, the owner has a young family and the stang just isnt practical for him anymore. He has the history on the car too (previous owners), and it sounds like the car was never a daily driver (explaining the low kms) The car was originally white leather, but the owner got custom black leather seats put 8 months ago because the white ones were showing their age (the black seats look very nice). He also put on a new black top a year earlier (we saw the car today in the rain, there are no leaks). The brakes were redone (calipers, rotors, etc) and there are 18" wheels and fairly new tires on the car too. He has a flowmaster catback and a k&N filter, but aside from that the engine is stock. I got a very good feeling about this car and the owner, especially in comparison to some of the others in the price range.

There was one problem though, apparently the pan gasket leaks oil (the owner has the part, he is including it in the sale) but I think this is an easy fix. He was planning on getting a clutch installed while the pan gasket was being installed, so he has a clutch kit in the box he's including with the sale too. The owner is asking $8900 cdn for the car, but says hes willing to lower the price $300 or so because the gasket has to be replaced. Do you think $8,000 cdn is a fair price for this car, because that is what Im planning on offering.

Also, could somebody please run a carfax for me on this vehicle? The VIN is IFALP45T3RF177290. Thanks in advance for any opinions or a carfax :nice:

IMO a pan gasket is more labor intensive than a rear main seal.....If u do a clutch then the rear main is right there. No more labor to take it out and put it in. Pan gasket on the other hand is more intensive.

How much is that in US? about 65-7000? And how many miles? 90k or so? I'd say thats a little on the high side price wise. I bought my black on black hardtop with 60k on it 5 years ago from a dealer for $6500. Zero issues with it too.

I'd keep looking, if it were a cobra that'd be more like it IMO. But just a GT....u should be able to get one for $5-5500 US i'd say.

Thanks alot SonicBlue :nice:

btw, its equal to 65,000 miles (not 95,000), for about $7,500 usd, how does that sound?

Not sure what they go for out ther, but where Im at now you can buy a cobra for that. Look at some classifieds and see what they go for. Mileage is good. I bought my 94 gt (coupe) with 52 k all original, all record including sticker price for 3800 usd.

Im planning on making an offer on the car today, its very hard to find a car of this caliber in my area (lower mainland, greater vancouver) and some piece of crap cars are running for 6-7 grand (I mean crap.. ripped seats, 180,000+ kms, broken interior pieces, excessive scratches and dings, etc) I dont know how you guys are getting such good prices on your cars, but I cant find anything like that here (craigslist, autotrader, buy and sell, etc). Things like this make me wish I lived in the states :flag: well... canadas still great :canada:
