Got a used T56 Viper Tranny months ago. During install today it was noted that I needed to buy a tremec conversion kit ( 9910T - Speed Cal Kit) was need for my 99 cobra. Another delay, plus $129.00 and worse , wait til Monday for delivery.

Any other surprise parts lurking since I would like to order all parts needed now. I got no patience for lack of or poor planning anymore.

If you don't already have it, you will need a new cross brace and a shortened drive shaft.

Check out http://ddperformance.com/

They have a conversion kit. Even if you don't need everything in it, at least you will know what you do need.

I remember having to replace the clutch plate or something like that since the Viper input shaft has a different spline count.

A "Speed Cal Kit" sounds like something you'd need for a 98 or older cobra with a mechanical speed sensor. The Viper T56 I got from D&D just plugged right into my harness.

You'll also find that your driveshaft is too long, the yoke won't fit the back of the tranny, the 26 spline input shaft won't match your factory 10 spline clutch, and your crossmember will need to be drilled out or replaced to move it back a bit.

Yes, I got the tranny from a 98 or 97 not sure. So I did need to go from mechnical to electronic, so your right about the speedcal.

I had a Mcleod clutch on my T45, that worked OK on the T56,

I did need some cross member work like you said.

A Driveshaft came with the sale of the T56 so use that and it was OK.

Now getting used to the closeness of the gears as I shift. But the shifts are so smooth and short, very nice. A Pro 5 came with the T56.
